| Re: Where in the world are you from? Well, considering the universe I'm also from Hampshire ...!Considering earth... I'm from the Netherlands, from the south (although I was born and raised in the centre, the 'Betuwe', aka the fruitgarden from the Netherlands). I was wondering why 'Europe' and 'United Kingdom' are separate categories... ( to all the people from the UK!) |

| Re: Where in the world are you from? I just voted of where I am from, that is to say South America, Argentina to be precise. My first post was not allowed due to some 'spanner' (I don't know what this is) and something relating to not having to posted 15 previous times. How does this work? By the way it is not a joke I do have 5 different nationalities. |

| Re: Where in the world are you from? I'm from Colorado, in the USA, and unfortuneately I have never been out of the country! (I can't afford it right now) But I would LOVE to visit England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Egypt, Europe, and a lot of other places. Any suggestions of where I should go on my first out of the country trip? |

| Re: Where in the world are you from? Tough choice, ZoeRat. What do you like: cultural trips with lots of museums and historical sites, beautiful landscapes, shopping, adventure (f.e. hiking, mountain climbing),or a combination of the above? The world is sooo big, and even though I visited lots of countries in Europe I know there's still so much to see in Europe alone (and I include the UK and Ireland in Europe )!!There's still so much to see in my homecountry the Netherlands... haven't got a clue how te see everything I would like to see in one lifetime. |

| resident pedantissimo | Re: Where in the world are you from? Mountains you've already seeen, so it's probably not worth coming to see me (though we've got some quite pretty ones) Practical details: while American English is widely understood, and you can find someone anywhere who speaks it, if you don't speak any other languages it's probably easier to go somewhere where you can communicate with the majority of the locals. This includes most of Great Britain , Ireland, Australia and India, South Africa, Holland and Denmark. Canada, of course (though that's hardly travelling) and a variety of islands. This already gives you history, some spectacular landscapes and a wide variety of ways of getting indigestion. Of course, if you're one of the fortunate, gifted linguistically, you have a much wider choice, although, with an American passport, there are several regions which it would be unwise to visit (not only are these better discovered by asking people from the region, and, at any rate, they change with time: plan close to the event)Still, that leaves an awful lot of planet to see; and almost any part of it contains fascinating things. If you're only intending to spend one lifetime seeing it all, better plan on a nomadic existance. |

I'm either an Englishman born in Wales or a Welshman born of immigant English parents, depending on whether I'm watching the football or the rugby. ![]() And I currently reside on the edge of the Peaks in Derbyshire. | |
