Arda Quiz

I was asking myself if some people were up for some kind of quiz about Arda?

Ok... we first have to establish the kind of quiz... Please answer the following questions.

• Do you want a quiz with a ‘quizmaster’ or a quiz where you come up with a new question once you answered the previous question correct? (Personally, I love to be the GM).
• Do you want a knowledge quiz or something different (riddles or something similar)? (or a combination, I'm up for that).
• Do you want to have the possibly to search for answers through Tolkien’s work and the Internet, or by heart?

1) Quiz master - provided that you will be around periodically :P
2) combination (now that is going to be interesting)
3) search Tolkien's work, not the Internet.

I prefer wehre someone poses a question and then the member who correctrly answers gets the next go altohugh I'll go with whatever the majority decide.

Personally I think it would be good if members could choose what type of question to ask i.e. query or trivia about Tolkien himself, about the books, a riddle from or based upon the stories etc....

Oh, but what you are suggesting sounds like a game thread. Game threads are evil. They proliferate. They grow vaster than empires.

A quiz, as originally suggested, sounds much more appealing.

That's cool and I'm quite impressed with your setup of the Quiz actually. That's a fairly testing question to start off with and I have an idea of an answer but I want to see if someone else gets it......

Unfortunately the last quiz thread had to be closed. If another one is started, we have to remember that it is a quiz thread, not a game thread. And a quiz thread needs a quizmaster, who asks the questions. Then what we need is people to accept the answer given by the quizmaster (or if you don't, communicate your problems with the answer through PM, not in the thread), so that it can work properly. Its a good idea though.

I didn't see any problem with the quiz. I think it was a good idea at heart. Granted, I was thrown a curve on the answer to Gollum, I still thought it was intellectual and something fun to do while board browsing. Heh, my answer to "what was Gollum's name" was "Smeágol," but I thought at first that it was the location of the friggin accent (viz. Sméagol) that got my answer wrong. Then I realized and forgot that Tolkien anglicized many names from the Lord of the Rings, like Samwise Gamgee, Shire, etc. I went back to the Appendices of the Lord of the Rings and Trahald is there. I thought it was a cool twist to the game. Sorry, it didn't work out Mark.
