I wonder if this is just the same as Steven king and Tolkien where you can make money just by putting your name on it
Um, hate to say this, but Tolkien never made much money out of his writing. Sales only began to pick up in the final years of his life, and as for Christopher (his son); well, I doubt he's made much off of either the History of Middle Earth or the various other scholarly pieces he's done.

As for King -- I find myself in the peculiar position of coming to the defense of a writer I don't particularly like. I find King derivative, repetitive, and most often lacking in either any sort of originality or what I would consider good writing (there are exceptions, but they are so few that I gave up on reading him a long time ago). However, from what I know of King himself, I'd say the derivative nature is because he has read tremendous amounts of material (same as most writers) and just lacks the ability to assimilate it into his own mold. He may not be a good writer, but he's an honest one; I think he does what he does because he honestly cares about his writing, not just for the buck. He comes to it, in the old phrase, "clean hands and composure." I don't like his work, but I respect the man himself.

Re: The Younger Gods

I am half way through and its a bit heavy going, pretty much the same as the others just set in a different place. I really like Dav id Eddings but this series started off so well but seems to have tailed off a bit.

Re: The Younger Gods

am i the only one who thinks that David eddings has totally sold out?

Althalus and the gods series, are awful, from the man who created the belgariad, this is not impressive.

Althalus was just too easy, any time there was aproblem then he could pop back in time and change it..

and the gods was the same book repeated.

If David ever reads this im sorry, your earlier books were some of my fave books for getting me into the fantasy world, but these later ones... i just cannot even think about buying them, if it were not for havinf to review them for my web site i would not have touched them.

Re: The Younger Gods

The whole "The Dreamer" series has proved to be very poor.
The last 2 Books, had me thinking I was reading the same pages again...over and over.

It seemed that every converstaion had to be repeated 2-3 times.

Every new chapter was like the start of a new book giving a what has happened section.

I dont know why Eddings has done so poorly.

Re: The Younger Gods

I read the first book, trying to recall The Elder Gods I think but I gave up part the way through book two I seemed to loose interest, so I haven't brought anymore in the series.
Maybe the loss of Leigh had something to do with it, we don't really know what was going on with Eddings then!
Personally I liked The Redemption of Althalus, I liked the plot, yes Parmenion he did make life easy on Althalus by enabeling him to change time but I enjoyed the story overall.
Lets wait and see what Eddings does in the future, if he does continue to write.
