Gigs... Going to see VNV Nation in Sheffield in a couple of weeks. ![]() Had big problems trying to find accomadation because of footballl, Sheffield playing a home match. Every hotel was booked up. In the end I found a cool site where you can hire out whole apartments for short stays. Phew! Previous gigs include... - Mortiis - Korn - Muse - Radiohead Please tell us about live shows you have seen.

Re: Gigs... PRODIGY - BRIXTON ACADEMY ... in a few weeks. ![]() That's about it for me so far this year. It'll also be the first time I've been back to the Academy since I saw Caliban/God Forbid/Machine Head last year which ruled. It's a cool venue. Other live shows... Well I've seen Mortiis at the Borderline off Charing Cross Road YEARS ago (also saw Godsmack in there. Scarily low ceiling). Saw Korn at Wembley Arena in 2000 (v.cool) Muse I've seen at Reading and Radiohead at Glastonbury. I've seen lots of bands multiple times from a period mostly between 1997-2004. Most memorable ones are Rage Against the Machine at Wembley Arena, Marilyn Manson at Docklands, Fear Factory at Brixton Academy in 1999, The Deftones at Docklands, Slipknot at the Astoria, Megadeth at the Forum in Kentish Town in 99', Soulfly at the Astoria, Biohazard at the LA2, Napalm Death at the LA2, Godflesh at the Astoria System of a Down at the Astoria, Sepultura at the Astoria, Cannibal Corpse w/Kreator at the LA2, Everlast at the Astoria, Slayer at Docklands, Ian Brown at Brixton, Motorhead at Brixton, Tool at the Astoria, Machine Head at Brixton, Stampin'Ground at the Garage, Pennywise at the Astoria... God knows what years most of them were exactly. ![]() I didn't include bands I've seen at festivals. Foo Fighters at Reading this year were awesome; as were Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, Kasabian, Dinosaur Jr and the Charlatans. Manics were good a few years back too. Basically all the 'in' bands that have played at Glastonbury-Reading between 1997-2005. Also at Download, Meshuggah, Killswitch Engage, Therapy?, Helmet, all awesome... Now if only the Stone Roses would reform and do a gig... *dreams*

| Re: Gigs... Well, lots of shows at places like Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm when I was into teeny-bopper bands in junior high and such, which I am not prepared to admit to at this time . And some shows I went to with my parents in Las Vegas that were definitely non-rock in nature. Although it was really funny going to see Ann-Margaret right after she had been in Tommy - it was a middle age and older audience for the most part, but she did a couple of the songs she had done in the movie, with this montage from the film projected behind her. That crowd was definitely not ready for Who music. But let's see...some of the artists I've seen in concert over the years, in no particular order.

Re: Gigs... You know, it's an eternity since I've been to a concert without somone paying me to be there, or ar least getting me a backstage pass. I think the last was Amon Duul II in 1973! I really should get out more often. ![]()

Re: Gigs... A summer concert with Hunters and Collectors, supported by Things of Stone and wood was pretty good (aussie bands), as was an outdoor concert with a reggae singer Lucky Dube. But by far the best live music Ive seen was whilst living in Ireland and the late night 'lock ins' at the local pubs. Very spontaneous gigs with one song sung by a single patron and the next by the entire pub, ditto with the music, no instruments, a few guitars or maybe a bodhran (irsh drum), very entertaining nights all round.

Re: Gigs... Saw Opeth on wednesday, supported by Akercocke, absolutely awesome, pretty much heaven for a metal fan. Off to see Mastodon on monday, both gigs in London, just wish I still lived there. Train tickets at 20-odd quid a piece are hurting the old bank balance :S

Re: Gigs... I saw Opeth at the Underworld in Camden a few years back. Really decent gig even though I wasn't terribly familiar with much of their stuff. Train fares are getting ever ridiculous. It's getting to the stage with travel cards where it'll be cheaper to fork out for congestion charging and just drive into Central London...
