Re: One sitting

I don't think I would have the stamina for it, but with a few dedicated Tolkienites I would love to have a go. I have got the extendeds and watched them all individually, but to spend 12 hours straight...I dunno.

Re: One sitting

well, keep in mind not to stuff that pretty mouth of yours full ll the time. It's lethal, I tell you! You'll regret it for over a week!

I had some hard times with the first film ( we started this fest at 7 o'clock, which meant getting up at 5 thirty, when having slept two hours ( party at the kouterfor end of exams, who can refuse that? )

we paused 6 times ( five times to change the DVD, one time for lunch)
The couch had quite deep prints in it, and some stains which needed some extensive cleaning
but hey, it was fun.
We are still looking for trilogy's to redo this again.

Re: One sitting

The question is: "Can anyone manage to watch all three movies -back-to-back- including extended editions and 'keep their traps shut'?

lol - theres no-way Id attempt this with my friends, since it would soon degrade into a 'background flick-er'. And I even went so far as refusing to watch (with same said friends) the extended edition of 'ROTK' when it first came out, because I knew no-one would stay quiet!!! Dang! Im just too serious about Sci-Fi/Fantasy......

Re: One sitting

I've watched them all at one sitting on 2 seperate occasions...

The first being on the cinematic release of ROTK. The cinema showed the extended versions of the first two and then showed ROTK. They timed it so that ROTK would start in the first few minutes after midnight.

The second time being last Xmas, when I watched all three extened back-to-back. And I'm in no hurry to do it again anytime soon

Re: One sitting

I dont think it would do any good to try this. Sorry to be a kill-joy. Ive thought about trying this with friends. But truth is, we'd be wasting our time.

We'd be so much better off taking it a step at a time and getting to appreciate the movies a little at a time. Not sure how often Ive seen these three movies, now, but not a lot. Every time theres something I missed before. And every time the story pulls me in and stirs me a-new.

Ive lent all the extended superlong specially repacked uber stonking long extended version of dozens of DVD's off a friend...... and I'm taking my time with them.

They do deserve it.

Some small parts Im not fond of, but, oh, Jackson... Thanks, mate ...

Re: One sitting

Slightly off topic, I have watched all of the Starwars original trilogy in one sitting, I couldn't stand up afterwards, legs had become quite stiff.

Re: One sitting

What made you torture yourself to go and watch Star Wars in the first place?

Re: One sitting

I've watched all three extended Lord Of The Rings movies at one sitting several times but the best was last year when the new open air cinema opened and they gave the media a special preview. They showed the three movies, extended versions, with about an hour's break between movies where they served a buffet.

It was a really lovely day and everyone was sitting on the grass on blankets. We started watching at sundown.

The original Star Wars trilogy is pretty good indeed and I've watched that back to back as well along with the Alien movies and the Batman ones, though admittedly the Batman ones were a tad too much.

OOHHHH!!! I think that's my pet-peeve. I absolutely hate it when people talk during movies, or make a lot of noise. SHUT-UP!!! Unless everyone has seen it a hundred times before and there was an agreement before hand that you could talk, it should be pretty much silent.

Back on the topic...I've watched all three of the extended versions back to back only once. I absolutely love them, but haven't found the time to do it again. Maybe I'll have to do it next week sometime...

Re: One sitting

Yeah, been there and done that before. I usually watch them over two days but occassionally I will watch all three in one sitting.

You get a different feel for the movie if you watch them all together.
