Although it's not necessarily the right format for this forum, 'The Walking Dead', a comic series by Robert Kirkman, is excellent. Kirkman tells a great story, and his character development is very good. Even if you're not a regular comic reader, I recommend picking it up if you're looking for a good zombie story. Collected editions are available, so you can read large chunks of the series at one sitting.
I really like the Walking Dead series. We have them in our adult graphic novel collection at my library, and I have read all of them.
