| Spiff's Stunt Double | Re: Best duel of the saga In terms of fight choriography, I don't think any duel can touch the Dauth Maul Vs Obi Wan and Qui Gon. Not only for the 3vs 1 showdown (the Ep 3 version just doesn't convince, you can blatently see Anaking and Obi-Wan waiting thier turn to attack Doku, wheras Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan seem to be genuinly going all out to kill Maul) but also the framing and editing of the fight are far better than anything else in the series. My only gripe is that Maul suddenly looses his reflexes when Kenobi jumps over him and cuts him in half. That seems to happen a lot in these films, which is odd considering how skillful some of the other choriography is. Both the duels that Anakin looses suffer from this. He just stands there and lets Doku take his arm in Ep2, and he jumps into Obi-Wan's blade in Ep3, possibly the dumbest saber move in the universe. Yet for sheer emotion, it's gotta be Vader Vs Luke in Bespin. He beats the crap out of our hero, severes his hand (the first time we see a hero lose a limb in star wars) and then... "I am your father..." Shivers. I sill get shivers. |

Re: Best duel of the saga Most impressive would be the battle between Yoda and Captain Dooku. Most emotional either Ep5 Luke vrs. Vader (finding out that the evil guy is his father, aww....) or the battle in Ep1 where QuiGon dies that was really, really sad.

Re: Best duel of the saga I'll have to say Luke versus Vader in 'Return of the Jedi' followed by their fight in 'Empire Strikes Back'. Third on my list is the fight between Vader and Obi Wan in 'A New Hope'. Due to me knowing a bit of swordsmanship I honestly hate all the 'stunt sequences' in the prequels, they just seem overly flashy to me and don't look like real fights. I seriously dislike the jumpy, flippy stuff because in reality a swordsmaster would just step back while you jump and land a strike on you as soon as you land! Despite saying that, Darth Maul's fighting style was actually very good and seemed based on capoeira somewhat (from what I can remember) I might be wrong there but nonetheless his fighting style seemed more real and fluid than anything else I saw in the prequels.

Re: Best duel of the saga Obi Wan and Darth Vader. It was the very first fight and as has been said, it showed us what the light saber was like in the hands of skilled users. And I didn't see Obi Wan's death coming either. And after all these years it's still a shock. The later fights may have had better stunts and choreography but for me nothing comes close to this first battle.

Re: Best duel of the saga The Jedi Jedi lightsaber is the weapon of elegance of a more civilized time. In the hands of a Master, a Jedi lightsaber is unstoppable. It slashes through blast doors or whatever type of enemies. Using the Force, a Jedi can predict and deflect incoming blaster rays, and fire them back at the opponent.

Re: Best duel of the saga The Jedi lightsaber’s color depends on the nature of the Adegan crystal it comes from, and while its length is fixed in the case of a single-jewel lightsaber, lightsabers equipped with multiple crystals can have their length varied by rotating a knob that allows the focusing crystal activator to subtly modify the refraction pattern between the gems.

Re: Best duel of the saga I wish that somehow they enhance further the original trilogy - most especially the last encounter bet anakin (now darth vader) vs obi wan in the New Hope. With today 3D tech - they can surely bring to life - and give more LIFE and action to the last encounter - much more intensity than the duel bet yoda and the emperor in the revenge of the sith

Re: Best duel of the saga The best would still be for me, Obiwan and Anakin in the revenge..side by side with yoda and the emperor...and also when yoda threw the saber into a trooper then jumping on to him to retrieve the sword - that was intense
