Just started Knife of Dreams

There didn't seem to be a thread for people that have just started KoD. So anyway I did just start to read it, and I must say that opening scene with the duel challenge seemed to be more action then the entire last book in this series. That makes me "want" to read rather then "have" to read like the last book in this series, it seemed to me that the only good reason for reading book 10 was so that it might pay off in book 11 and 12 and so far it looks to be true!

Re: Just started Knife of Dreams

Actualy I think Asdar may have posted something along simliar lines although the book has been read by that member already. Like you Rahl I'm making my way through Knives at the moment (along with half a dozen other new major releases), and it's quite god so far. Apparently more happens in this book than the previous few but it's still not as fast paced as the earlier books in the series. Makes me worry that Jordan is going to rush things at the end in the final book in order to keep the current promise of 12 books...

Yes I am a fair bit into it now and at least in this book more happens then Aes Sedai trying to stare holes in each other while at the same time making sure their dress is smooth, now thats what I call "talent". heh I swear that was all that took place in the previous book.

I am finding this book to be a real joy to read and the closer I get to the end, the suspense of Tarmon Gai'don being almost upon them is excellent. This book ranks among the good ones of this series in my oppinion.

Re: Just started Knife of Dreams

I finished the KOD, I found it a bit convoluted in regards to the additional characters that have been added/mentioned i.e. more Aes Sedai mentioned of various Ajahs that had not been mentioned in earlier books, more Kin, more SeaFolk women. I've found it hard to keep track of who is who. Has anyone found this?
I loved his first 6 books they were filled with so many foretellings, anticipation and suspense.
I am wondering now how will he bring everything together? How many more books will be in the series?
Will there be a showdown between Rand and Lord Luc/Isam who is his uncle (brother of Tigraine, his biological mom)?
Elaida had a foretelling about the Royal House of Andor being central to the battle against the Dark One. (The Royal House of Andor could mean Rand or Elaine or both.)
When will she discover Rand's royal bloodlines?
Will Galad and Berelain end up together? (There was some foretelling regarding that.)
The land of Shara has been alluded to in previous books, so will Sharan characters be added into the series?

I'm still plodding through the book because school has otherwise kept me occupied but I'm not too far away from finishing now.

I've always had a problem with remembering Jordan's latter characters although I usually put that down to the fact that his slow pace and (comparatively) tedious discourse made it so easy to forget anything that happened. CoT is still a blur to me...

Anyway, I'm still very much looking forward to some of that above resolution. The Luc/Isam thing always fascinated. As for the Sharans I'm interested to see what will happen but as it stands, there's a lot for him to resolve in one book. I just hope that adding the Sharans into the mix doesn't detract from the resolution.

And one book is a little too little time for Berelain and Galad to get together don't you think? I mean, since they haven't really met and all... But yeah, those are some good questions. I had forgotten about all that stuff

I have tried not to read your comments about this book Just in case it gave the story away!!

At last, and I didn't have to wait till Christmas, I finally have my copy of KOD. Please do not expect too much contact from me, over the next couple of weeks - maybe less!

Well, it was worth the long wait.... Lovely long prologue and then into -
The Wheel of Time Turns and Ages Come and Pass. Strange how so many people don't like that 'begining'.
