Am very new here but will be at the Eastercon and am very much looking forward to meeting old friends again and maybe making new ones. Plus there's Lovecraft in the programme.

Re: Eastercon - Concussion (2006) Currently packing bags, display boards, chocolate eggs to give away (and consume when no one is looking) books, book marks, posters, and much much more in preparation for Eastercon. I'm looking forward to this very much after my experience of Worldcon last year. I look forward very much to seeing you there.

Re: Eastercon - Concussion (2006) As Friday is Good Friday, then I'm guessing that Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday will follow on ... and as it is called Eastercon, then it's likely that it will be this week, yes. Do I deduce a touch of surprise in your tone, Brian? ![]()

Re: Eastercon - Concussion (2006) Turned up on Saturday and had a few good conversations with people - unortunately, somehow two cans of cider the night before had given me something of a hangover. Freda Warrington was kind enough to give me some neurofen, but I ended up just having to go home after a few hours - whereupon my headache finally cleared. ![]() It was good meeting Mark again of course - Freda was very nice - chatted to John Jarrold as well and a couple of people I'd met at Worldcon. Shame I couldn't make more of it, though.

Re: Eastercon - Concussion (2006) I did wonder where you had gone, Brian. I remember the conversation about the couple of cans of cider, but hadn't realised it had affected you so badly. It was also good to meet Mikeo amongst many others. I had a good few days. Met lots of authors, bought more books, sold more books, took part in panels, read from my books - all in all it was a lot of fun. I think it's fair to say that I'm now officially a con-vert. (OK, I know that was really bad. I promise I won't do it again.)As a result of the Con, I hope to be arranging a string of interviews with authors in a mixture of fields that should interest members of this site. If we're nice to them, some might even come and hang out here a bit! If there are any hard SF fans who fancy conducting interviews of Geoff Ryman or Ken McCleod, please drop me a PM and I'll discuss the format/procedures with you.

Re: Eastercon - Concussion (2006) No trains today between Glasgow and Carlisle. Had to sit for 2 and a half hours on a bus!! Horrible! Took me an hour and a half longer to get home! Very tired! Had a good weekend! Met a lot of people! Talked to a lot of people and felt my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth when I read their name tag ROFL!

Only just caught up on this thread, and was very excited by your reference to posters! I've got your books, and book marks, and I've already got too many easter eggs! But posters is a whole new thought... Not having been able to excuse myself from the family over Easter to pop up to Scotland, are there likely to be any other chances to cadge posters off you in the near future?!! | |

Re: Eastercon - Concussion (2006) Yeah, it was a good con. Unlike Worldcon, where both myself and the friend I showed up with managed to meet almost nobody, I met a number of people this time around, including our very own Mark Robson! Mark was a difficult one to talk to though - he always seemed to be pulling in customers! ![]() I was told by one con-regular that this Eastercon was heavier on programming than normal, which I thought was good, personally. And did anyone else catch the Cthulu film? It was great! That and the Cthulu panel convinced me to order some more Lovecraft, as I've only read a few of his books. Ah yes, and I have some pictures to post - must get my camera plugged in, though I'll have to admit most of the pictures I took were of buildings and spaceship models...

Have just gotten back from Concussion and it was a lovely con. There wasn't enough time to catch up with everyone but I did meet some new people and there was Lovecraft on the programme to boot. Bought way too many books which the wonderful people at Heathrow allowed me to carry onto the aircraft without paying for the excess. Probably ate too much haggis too and drank too much cider and mead. Am now working on a plan to rob the bank for next year. Wonder if Cthulhu would help out.
