Was just musing, and a couple of folks seem to think that ASoIaF wouldnt last more than a few seasons on HBO.
So of the authors on the Chronicles, Tolkein has 15k posts, Martin has 11k posts and Rowling has 9k posts. I think the next highest has 1.5k posts.
Seems to me that there is sufficient interest in Martins storytelling that the shows would draw great ratings even before word of mouth struck. I can see the show doing very well, but again it will largely depend on their ability to keep budget in check.
And I'd be willing to bet its safe to say, we all know alot of people who would love the plot but don't have the patience to read the books. (I'd say about 85% of the people i know don't read other than the newspaper.) |
