I've just started reading this book. As aways I find Mievill's books difficult to first engage with. This one's no different. It feels like he's pulled these strange characters together and you're trying to get your head around those. Then on top of that puts them in the wierdest place, surrounded by other strange creatures and you're also trying to get your head around that.
If I didnt think he was one of the most inventive writers around I'd give up
