the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy who in your opinion is the wisest most brilliant mind ever to come from the star wars universe, perhaps admiral ackbar , maybe its master yoda? could it be senator Garm bel ibis. well what do you think. I definitely have to say its Grand Admiral Thrawn the most brilliant strategist to ever live (imperial of course) He could cite inspirations, analyze motives and determine outcomes before his opponents had even consciously began formulating a move. the one big mistake thrawn ever made was trusting the noghri death commandos to obey him (leia had turned them over to the new republic) at the hight of the battle of billbringi (the rebels tried to deceive the grand admiral by setting up the fleet to attack tangerne but instead going to billbringi) when a report came to the chimera that the noghri had betrayed them, his bodyguard (a noghri) killed him with his assassins blade. the end of the greatest tactician, and the true end of the empire. And as the wailing of the alarms cut through the noise of a star destroyer in battle, he finally managed to turn his head. Thrawn was upright in his chair, his face strangely calm. In the middle of his chest, a dark red stain was spreading across the spotless white of his grand admiral's uniform. glittering in the centre of the stain was the tip of Rukh's assassin's knife. Thrawn caught his eye: and to Pellaeon's astonishment, the grand admiral smiled. 'But,' he whispered, 'it was so artistically done.' the smile faded. the glow in his eyes did likewise...and Thrawn, the last Grand Admiral, was gone. - Extract from: The last command

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy Thrawn was good but I think one of the best strategists is Admiral Ackbar. I've always been a big fan of his (maybe it's the fishy resemblance...). In terms of politics, Mon Mothma is very good and kept the Alliance and then the New Republic together. What about Grand Moff Tarkin? He's certainly another to contend with. His downfall was trusting too much in technology and his Death Star.

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy In terms of stratagist, Grievous was, By far the best. His downfall was trusting a sith lord, never a good idea. In politics and overall coolness. Was Emperor Palpatine. They way he just played out the war like a movie (being it actully was a movie) He just let things take it's toll but due to his trusing in a sith lord -STILL never a good idea- he was killed.

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy Hmm... I don't know why, but I'm leaning towards Obi Wan being the wisest most brilliant mind ever to come from the star wars universe. He has my vote

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy The greatest mind is PALPATINE. His plots were just sick, he managed to use the Jedi's Golden Boy against him, kept Vader under lock a key for 20 years, and even used the fact that he looked like a ghoul to garner public sympothy. Based on the prequels, Lucas REALLY screwed up Palpy in RotJ.

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy I'd probably have to go with Palpatine too. A master plan which was already in conception at the beginning of TPM, tuned with the finding of the one (oops, wrong trilogy: I mean the one who will bring balance to the force), and ultimately enacted with hundreds and thousands of players over an entire galaxy, apparently as entirely predicted. Then, when a threat reappears in ANH the plan simply gets tweaked and all continues until love overcomes. What you don't understand will always getcha... ![]()

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy Palpatine. Definitely Palpatine. He played both sides against the middle... deftly. He gathered the pieces to his military as casually as someone shopping for groceries. He manipulated the "Chosen One" with ease and confidence. And how long did his reign last? Yeah, definitely Palpatine.

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy Darth Revan. Before the events of KOTOR. He crushed the Mandalorians then the Republic and there was nothing they could do about it. Too bad he didn't see that Malak would turn on him so soon.

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy i'd have to agree with Darth Revan... too brilliant by far... Malak's treachery was only possible because of the Jedi. Yet Revan was the only one to realise that there was a threat outside the Republic, The True Sith... of which any in Republic/Empire space was ignorant of and against whom the Republic brand Sith were pale imitations. All his actions were in furtherance of his goal of galactic unification. He was so very close to success too... damned Bastila... Wisest tho... Kreia perhaps... Yoda definitely is right up there, if not number one...

Re: the greatest mind of the star wars galaxy I would hazard a guess at you never having read the Thrawn trilogy? This is a reletively hard question but the first names to mind are Wedge Antilles, Admiral Ackbar, Grand Admiral Thrawn and Empiror Palpatine. Talon Karrde isn't too much behind either.
