Re: Kate Elliot's - Website Well I don't quite understand why an author of Kate Elliots obvious talents has to flood her message forum with adds for a dating service. She doesn't make enough money from her books to pay for the site? I don't like her website at all. I just deleted it from my favorites. ![]() Rahl

Re: Kate Elliot's - Website Those talents don't necessarily extend to web-design however, Rahl, and I suspect she leaves a lot of decisions to the person who designed and maintains her web-pages. I know that when my friend Carolyn built my website, she had a hard time finding -- I'm so ignorant of these things myself I don't even know the right word -- one of the basic whatsits that it takes to set up a message board -- or rather, finding one that did everything we wanted it to do but didn't involve pop-ups or any other kind of ads. Apparently, that's sort of a package deal with most of the "ready-made" message boards. Finally, she did settle on something and set it up, but it's not a great format as these things go. Kate's web-designer apparently settled for a different trade-off, and decided that ezboard had more of the features she wanted.

Re: Kate Elliot's - Website To me it just looks tacky for an author of her talents to have all those ads for a dating service, I appoligize if I offended anyone with my comments, including Kate. Rahl

Re: Kate Elliot's - Website It is a good point to make, though - trying to provide communication with an audience, but using third-party services that bombards them with ads, isn't really an ideal situation. Really, the site designer should have used a different option, one in which you could avoid free ads - there are various solutions out there that are both free and paid. If Kate wants her own place and revamped with her own forums - and no advertising - then she's welcome to drop me an e-mail and I can help her get set up with something.

Re: Kate Elliot's - Website She could do with a new site. I love her books from what I have read so far. I hate adverts. Sometimes I give a site only a few seconds before shutting it down. You can get some pretty nasty ads out there that infect your computer too.
