Re: Great Y A Reads From Chronicles Network Readers Thanks Kelpie... it was an idea that I found on another site (one compiled by 8th graders) thought I could apply the same principles here. I hope it helps everyone. This project is only half of what I would like to do. If possible I would love to add books listed with the authors and also their official website. We'll see how it goes. This is all I could do for now.

Re: Great Y A Authors From Chronicles Network Readers Interesting, why isn't Andre Norton represented in this list? Many of her books, what I have read, seem to fall into YA category: for example "Catseye", "Dark Piper", "Murdoch Jern" books, "Solar Queen" books and "Witch world" books. Are they outdated for current youth or just out of press ?

Re: Great Y A Authors From Chronicles Network Readers Taltos, this list is compiled from threads here on the young adult forum, I don't believe we have a thread on Andre Norton. I will do some research and see what I can find out about this author today. But in the meantime feel free to start a thread for discussion about Andre Norton. And then I'll add her to our list. I'm hoping this list will grow as we add more YA authors to the forum.

Anyway, I just waved a flag for John Christopher, on a Peter Dickenson thread - he wrote several series, but his Tripod's trilogy is the best, and one of the first SF titles for younger reader that I had at the library ... The titles are The White Mountains, The City of Gold and Lead, and The Pool of Fire, and they were first published in the UK late 60's. I'd say they are for 11-12plus, as they are quite dark in places... | |

Re: Great Y A Authors From Chronicles Network Readers I need to put this in the first post... but... if there is an author you want to talk about just start a new thread... we love to hear what's on everyone's mind and maybe find a great book to read... oh yea... have the kids read. Milena... you want to start a new thread about John Christopher or would you like me too? I don't mind.

Re: Great Y A Authors From Chronicles Network Readers I've heard the name and seen the books around - if you realyl like them, please do start a thread! Alia, could you add Nicholas Stuart Grey to your list? We have a thread on him now with comments by at least one other person who has read his books, and he should fit right in. How about Bruce Coville? I've read some of his SFnal books for younger readers, and they were imaginative, thought-provoking and often funny.
