No Survivors, Please

Directed by Hans Albin & Peter Beaneis
Starring Maria Perschy, Robert Cunningham, Uwe Friedrichsen, Karen Blanguernon
Black & White, Mono
Made in 1964
Available on DVD Region 0

A U.S. Senator is the lone survivor of an air crash. A nuclear scientist is lost overboard in the North Sea and is found hours later alive and well. There are more miracle escapes for prominent and influential world figures and alarm bells start ringing for reporter Howard Moore (Friedrichsen). He begins to suspect a pattern is there – just waiting to be found. Convinced that he has stumbled on to something big, he steps into a world full of danger, not only for him, but for the whole world.

No Survivors, Please is an interesting little tale of paranoia and suspicion set amidst the Cold War. Although some of the acting is not of the highest quality, clever editing helps keep up the pace of what turns out to be a competent Science Fiction Thriller. Unfortunately, the downside here is the physical quality of the movie itself. It is obvious that this is a straight transfer to DVD from video tape (and not a particularly good quality copy at that). The film is littered with annoying little burps and bleeps and poor quality contrast can really play havoc with the eyes. Still, the story makes it worth persevering with its entertaining little quest into discovering just who is in control.
