A SoS was as long as the ENTIRE LOTRs trilogy. Martin was asked about this in one interview and commented with that. He said something to the effect that it would take nine movies just to cover the first three books. Martin spoke about making a TV series, but doubted it was possible due to the fickle nature of TV. Since he used to write for the CBS series "Beauty and the Beast" he understands that he would be cancelled before the story could get going.That being said...it is fun to dream about someone doing as great a job on this as Jackson did for the LOTRs.
