Yes, I think
King Rat might work even better as a film than a book. As for "The Tain" ... done well, that could indeed be a mind-blowing film; one of the best in years! Mieville, for one thing, has such an excellent visual sense for settings and bizarre concepts (though sometimes his characters seem a bit blurred in my mind's eye ... not always, but now and again). So I'd think, in many ways, his work could be very adaptable to the screen....
