Cool Favorite POV

Here's a difficult one...
Choose only one please.
Which is your fav. POV?

I choose Lord Davos Seaworth.

Never wanted to be Hand, only to be happy with his family and ship.
Fingers removed, children lost, put in jail (does it say for how long?)
Very similar to Ned Stark in the way they view everything imo.
Saved the Wall by telling Stannis to come there.
Saved Edric Storm (Robert's bastard) from Melisandre's crazyness.

Dunno exactly why, but I really enjoy reading his POV.

But there's many others I like...

Re: Favorite POV

Have to say Jon Snow. Not the most intriguing character, nor the most interesting plotlines atm - but i love him anyway.

Has all his father's sense of honour and duty, but has learned that the two are not always compatible, and that their can be honour in dishonouring oneself.

Inteligent and resourceful.

An excellent judge of character, like ghost i think he see's things in people other men do not - He judges men on their own merits, not their birth or family.

Already a damn fine swordsmen and like to get much better, and showed with his command of the wall during the wildling attacks that he's a born leader.

He's not the least bit proud, what little he had after being bastard-born erased by that early discussion with donal noye about his bullying the other boys.

His POV's are all about the Watch, who i love.

He has Ghost, the coolest character in the whole series IMHO - and he doesn't even say anything! (about that, in ACOK, near the end when Jon and qhorin etc. are fleeing the wildlings, he dreams he was ghost, and ghost pads through the forest and howls for his brother's and sisters! was this an error by martin? Ghost's never made a sound before (save when jon found him, heard a "sound" and rode back - which i think he didn't hear, but "felt".)

Re: Favorite POV

I'd say either Tyrion or Jaime. I find them to be the most interesting, dynamic, and complex characters. I also like any POV that has the Hound in it. Jon and Arya are pretty cool, too. And I like Davos as well. Did I miss any?

Re: Favorite POV

Favorite POV is Arya. Favorite conversationalist/internal monologues- Tyrion.

As for Ghost howling, I don't see why not. He may have a voice he only uses once in a while. Or it could have been an internal howl, only felt by pack.

Re: Favorite POV

I loved the Jaime point of view. When I saw his name at the top of the page for the first time I looked up and said out loud to GRRM "oh no you did not!".

Arya was great too. She got to see a lot of interesting things, particularly in Harrenhall. Plus she got to hang around the Hound!

Jon is right up there at the top too.

Favorite POV?

Well..... Jamie, Jon, Tyrion, Eddard, and Arya.

But I must say that Bran's point of view, especially the one here he "falls" was quite a tear jerker. :`(

Re: Favorite POV

I think I'd agree with Ender. I probably consistently enjoyed Davo's PoVs more than anyone else's. The others tended to have highs and lows, where I'd really like them sometimes and find them tedious other times - Dany's in particular. But Davos I always enjoy.

Re: Favorite POV

Probably Bran, or maybe Jon Snow, though i dont identify myself to Jon Snow at all, his chapters are just damn fun to read. Actually I pretty much identify to Samwell Tarly the most. He is a coward allright, but a good coward.

Brans chapters of course have the Hodor effect which makes them even more nice. I always start to smile when I think of Hodor humming "hodor hodor, hodor"...

I found Davos chapters almost the least great (saying least great sounds damn much nicer than worst). Eddards chapters weren't that fun to read either, they had a tendency to be a bit boring.

Re: Favorite POV

I have mixed feelings about the various POVs.

1. Sansa's is great, because we get to read about the Hound a lot.
2. Arya's is brutal, sadististic, but engrossing (sometimes just grossing)
3. Eddard's is great but kind of short (pun intended)
4. Tyrion's has the lines, but the Shae parts mean I have to take a cold shower.
5. Jon's Lord Snow is balanced nicely by Sam, and his brothers.
6. Dany's has some lesbian action! No seriously, it's the most exotic of all the POVs.
7. Jamie's is a good anti-hero tale (like the Hound's)
8. Sam's has more courage than all the other characters put together, except Ned.

BUT
1. Theon's is pretty ho-hum, he's just a punk.
2. Davos's is a bit too sad for me.
3. Bran's is full of cryptic details, but rather actionless.
4. Robb and Cat's, well...boring POVs deserve to die.

Re: Favorite POV

You're a harsh critic, there, Duff. And a little strange. But we'll put that to one side, for the time being...

I'd agree with you on Theon, his PoVs are always a struggle for me on rereads. But so are a lot of Dany's. Tyrion also, every now and then, but far less often. The thing I most disliked about Tyrion's chapter's was Shae. From the very start I found her repulsive for some reason. So manipulative. I'm glad she's dead. And I liked Cat's PoVs. She was our only link to the war in the Riverlands, at least on the Stark side.

Theon needs to be bitch-slapped. His POV chapters always make me irate. Dany's are sometimes tedious.

As for Tyrion, Shae is honestly the only issue I have with his POV. I always pity him because no matter how many times she reminds him that she's a whore, he still has an illusion of love. And the fact that she betrayed him confirmed my dislike of her- after that, I practically rejoiced when he killed her. I couldn't believe that some people actually disliked or even hated Tyrion because he killed Shae. She had it coming. If Tyrion didn't kill her, it's likely Tywin would have because she knew too much.

Re: Favorite POV

Which makes me wonder how long Shae and Bronn had been working for Tywin.

Flash back to Tyrion's return from the Eyrie... Tyrion sends Bronn to find him a whore and Bronn returns with a teenage runaway whore with a quick mind and tongue and who is also beautiful. Bronn claims to have taken her from some knight and Tyrion believes him. Then Tywin orders Tyrion to leave Shae behind or he'd hang her... just the sort of order that Tyrion could not help but disobey.

Suppose Tywin ordered Shae to become Tyrion's whore... Tywin needed some way to keep tabs on Tyrion. Tywin knew that if he demanded that Tyrion leave Shae behind that Tyrion would disobey just to spite him. And he knew that Tyrion was enough of a fool to believe he had a real relationship with the girl... so Tyrion would confide in Shae and she'd pass on the info to Tywin.

Suppose Tywin bought Bronn when they first met (Tyrion said they'd get along "famously"). Bronn could have been paid to be Tyrion's protector while informing Tywin of Tyrion's actions.

I'm not supposing that Bronn and Shae were working together, only that they might each have been working for Tywin without Tyrion's knowledge.

Either might have been working for Varys (a different theory). Did Varys spy Tyrion brining Shae into King's Landing as he said or did Shae or Bronn tip him off?

I love Tyrion's POVs. Theon's are good, but I detest him. Jon's are good, but he bores me. Sansa (whom I find dull) constantly interacts with the interesting people. Bran's POVs are yawners. And I thank GRRM for ending the Catelyn POV.

That said, I am glad that Varys, Littlefinger, Tywin, Cersei, Aemon, Jorah, Oberyn, Sandor, and Melisandre do not have POVs. I enjoy being surprised and I enjoy the guessing as to their motives. I loved it when Jaime's POVs began and I'm sure I'll enjoy Cersei's too. Now that I know so much about her, I'd like to get her side of the story... though I swore to myself that I would not like Tyrion, I failed. I love him! Then I swore I would continue to hate Jaime when his POVs started, but I like him a lot. Now Cersei's POV is about to start... I swear to all of you that I will continue to hate her! (Unless I start to empathize with her, of course!)

Death to Cersei!

Re: Favorite POV

Favorite POV was probably Jon Snow. Jon has all of the action, he goes on this great ranging and ventures with the wildings, which was a very interesting perspective to see. Jon is also one of the few POV's that is constantly filled with action but this may change as he gains responsibility in the nights watch.

Least favorite was probably Catelyn as she was a downer and I dislike her for being responsible for nearly every good characters death.

Bran good on the first read through but now i just skip over him.

Arya is nice because of the hound and she's like a total badass. Well as much as a 10 year old girl can be a badass.

Davos very fun read and it's nice to read about a humbler character as some POV's really show how haughty some characters are.

Sansa, nothing important really just shadows the events in tyrion's POV but her escapades with littlefinger and the hound make up for it.

Dany wicked awesome definetly one of the most balanced POV's for politics action and romance.

Tyrion, everyone likes tyrion myself included his wit and humor are great to read about and i think the battle's involving him are always a great read as they break up the book and well it just amuses me to think of tyrion in mounted combat.

Jaime some startling developments and his change of heart was a refressing read, but he went back to Cersei in King's Landing and that doesn't stand well with me.

Sorry for the long post but i started gonig and just kinda kept at it.
