In many ways you can think of the Otherland story as fantasy. I will not spoil it for anyone who wants to read it but the storyline really can not be anything but fantasy even though this story is told with technology representing the "magic". Does fantasy have to have a medieval setting? I think not, and Otherland really does prove that.
