Re: The Hound - A Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch? If he lives, he has sustained some pretty serious wounds - he might not be a shadow of the man he once was. GRRM's already shown us that he likes the idea of taking the strengths away from characters to see what becomes of them - think Bran and his legs, Jaime and his sword hand, and to a lesser extent Cat and her husband and children, and Brienne and her king - so maybe the Hound will be left to make of life what he can without his fighting ability. What then? Not much use to the Watch. Not much use to any king. Where does he go, and what does he do?

I don't think he's lost his belly for fighting yet. Let's not forget how strong the guy is. So far he is the only man to duel toe-to-toe with the Mountain and survive! That's the key word for Sandor, A survivor! | |

Re: The Hound - A Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch? Culhwch, I can see what you're saying, and I think it would be interesting to see the Hound have to resort to using his wits, etc. to get by, instead of his strength. But then, what Duff is saying here makes sense- the Hound is not one to let a bad injury keep him down. The burns on his face should have killed him- there are bits of bone showing through to this day! Besides, now he has more to live for than just revenge- he knows there is at least one person in the land who cares for him. That's got to be like light at the end of a tunnel for one such as he.

Re: The Hound - A Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch? But the burns are something that didn't necessarily affect his ability to fight. Life-threatening, sure, but once he had recovered, not something that would impede him. What were his wounds after the fight at the inn? I can't remember precisely, but he was stabbed a few times, no? Carrying possible internal injuries. Certainly on death's door. No matter how much of a fighter he is, there are some things no one would be fully able to get over. I don't expect him to live, but if he does, I don't expect him to be a well little puppy, but those are just my thoughts...

Re: The Hound - A Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch? There's a thought! Where abouts is Sandor in relation the whatever that huge lake is called, and the gods eye? Maybe he'll be healed by a child of the forest. We know Bran's been altered by his contact with the crow (who i assume to be a child), and not just his developing abilities - but also his views on the world. He's seen what lurks beyond that curtain of light (think that's how it was described) at the end of the world, he knows the real danger facing the land. how would Sandor be affected?

Re: The Hound - A Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch? True. Sandor opening his third eye... I like that. Question? Obviously the Hound loves Sansa, but has anyone thought that maybe Sansa loves the Hound? What was that passage where the singer tried to rape her, and she thought her savior was Sandor straight off, and the one with Tyrion when she tries to imagine sleeping with him but can only manage a man with half his face scarred. Sandor. Forgive me if this has already been discussed

Re: The Hound - A Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch? Well, FW, get ready for lots of "EEWWWW" and "gross" at any mention of an attraction between those two lovebirds. But, I don't think I ever seen this thread before and the topic...I mean nobody can seriously consider Sandor as a Black Brother. Jorah maybe, Brynden more likely, but the Hound? Never.

Re: The Hound - A Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch? Someone mentioned it, Brienne and Sandor. They are opposites yet very much alike, they are both judged on their deformeties and not their actions, and they could make a great team and they are close to each other at the moment and they could team up to find the lost Stark children, namely Sansa and they could save her from when Petyr gets into trouble and ends up creating a situation where Sansa ends up in danger. About the Sansa and Sandor relationship, i think the fact that Sansa is a genuine damsel in distress in the truest sense of the word, made Sandor wanna save her and in a weird sort of way her protector, who prepared her for the harsh realities she never knew before the whole Ned CHOP CHOP thing. But lobe between Sandor and Sansa i dont think so.
