Good point - I agree. Why else would he risk life and limb crashing into an angry mob with sword in hand just to save her life?

This is the part where Sansa would say something like "Blah blah blah true knight blah blah."

I agree that to some degree his heart went out to her. In his eyes, she looked like he felt when he was a child. He was persecuted by a merciless enemy who should have been his protector and left without recourse for justice or sanctuary. I don't know that this is romantic love that he feels, he probably does not even know what he feels towards Sansa. He protected her in small ways and opened up to her as he'd never done with anyone (of course, he threatened to kill her if she told his secret). All that may have been a test (unconciously, I think) to see if Sansa was a kindred spirit. The night that Sansa sang to him (the night of his nightmares come to life) and gave him her sympathy and compassion was the final test and Sansa passed.

Obviously, that one night did not change Sandor, but it gave him a choice... to continue as a junkyard dog or to start being vulnerable to love and life.

I think it's great how Sansa of all people is subjected to continual reversals of her daydreams. Joff, Hound, Imp, Littlefinger, Ser Meryn, Ser Dontos, Cersei, and Lyssa all are not what she expected.

I find it striking that off all those... the Hound got through to her.

Honour...

And where was his honour to save Lolys?
I found many facts to prove that his attitude about Sansa is not just duty: 1.When Jof ordered to Kingsguard to undress Sansa and beat her, only Sandor told them "Enough".
2.He went to the Sansa's room at the night of battle and he wanted to escape with her.
3.He went mad, when he learned she is married.
I think there are more events to prove this , but I can't remember in the moment.

Boaz I like what you wrote but I'm a little confused about what you mean here. Are you saying that he was the only one who succeeded in pulling the veil off of her eyes? If that's the case, I'd say she became disenchanted when Joffrey had her father killed.

This is a good discussion.

I think the Hound was desperately trying to protect the one person he knew who seemed to be completely innocent. As much as he wanted her to see the truth, he also wanted to hide her from the ugliness in the world. He wanted to keep her untarnished.

I quite agree, i think he believes that by "saving" sansa he can somehow save himself.

Re: The Hound - A Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch?

AU,

Maybe got through to her was not the most precise wording. I meant established a bond of sympathetic understanding where neither had need for keeping up defenses. Tyrion tried to connect emotionally with Sansa and failed. His failure was due to his grotesqueness, but even more so to Cersei's and Joff's betrayals. Cersei and Joff definitely got through to Sansa... they taught her many lessons.

Veils from her eyes is a good analogy. Ser Meryn showed her the meaning of true knights, Ser Dontos showed her the meaning of a selfless hero, Littlefinger is teaching her the meaning of romance, and Lyssa showed her the meaning of family unity.

Hound might not even have to revenge to Gregor as Gregor might soon be dead. Though I doubt it. But i like the idea of Hound joining the nights watch. Buuut, as some of you said it is unlikely cause he is a loner.

The thing about the loner business though...not all members of the Night's Watch are there by choice.....

Yes, but in the Hound's case, the only way he'd end up on the Wall is by choice. He's not in custody for doing something criminal, so it's unlikely that he'll be sent there against his will.

Yes thats true, but he could end up in the position that many of the wildings are in now...join with Stannis or the Night's Watch or die, as we do not know what sort of predicament he is in now. Remember, he kidnapped Arya from Dondarrion, and Dondarrion is terribly fond of necktie parties. He could also run into trouble from the Freys, any of the Northmen, Stannis etc. The remaining Lannisters cant be happy with him running off either.
Joining the Nights Watch not only absolves a man of his crimes, it effectively protects him from any pursuit.
And as far as criminal acts go, one never knows when one may be accused and found guilty of something in Westeros... just ask Ned & Tyrion!

My thought's exactly. If it happens i kinda invisaged Sandor having little or no choice in the matter (I.E. "join us or be executed for your crimes!") and then gradually accepting his fate for the reasons i mentioned in my original post.

He will go to Dorne or Bravos if he lives.
