National Distribution

Have just made a huge step forward with my distribution of The Darkweaver Legacy. From early August 05, the four new cover version Darkweaver Legacy books will be available in all Waterstones stores across the UK, and will be included in their current promotional campaign. This will inevitably mean that they will be discounted in one form or another, but only for a limited time, so make the most of it!

To put this deal in perspective, the Waterstones initial order was for as many books as I sold in my first 2 years of trading!

Congratulations!

Does this mean a lot more book-signings in your future?

Re: National Distribution

Thanks for your good wishes, everyone. I'm not ready to rest on my laurels just yet, as they still have to sell the large number of books they have ordered. However, I'm a lot more confident of this with the new covers than I would have been with the old ones.

Kelpie, I'm not sure that it will actually make a lot of difference. The marketing department of Waterstones don't seem to go a bundle on personal appearances - well, not by lesser known authors anyway. I get the feeling that the events are generally more hassle than they are worth to them. However, they do believe in the power of having signed stock - I signed 1000 copies of The Forging of the Sword yesterday as part of their initial order. By the time I went to bed, I think I must have burned the image of that dragon cover onto my retinas, as it was all I could see in my sleep!

Re: National Distribution

I believe I was once told that Waterstones pay for the author signing events, so I guess it's a case of them having to be able to justify a return on the investment of setting everything up and paying the overall bill.
