In the past several rainy days, I've seen a few "contenders" and not all of them are that strong. Sure Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, and Tom Cruise are good actors, but their current films aren't all that great. Just because it's dramatic, or sad, or even entertaining doesn't mean it's Oscar-worthy. I was actually pretty disappointed in Cold Mountain, Master and Commander and the Last Samurai. I LOVE Jude and Russ, but the films, while good, were by no means the best films these guys have done... nor are they of the same calibur as ROTK.

Now, of the other films actually nominated for best film or best director, I haven't seen them all, nor do I want to. I was never interested in seeing Mystic River or Lost in Translation (which I barely heard of) and I think those are the biggest competition for our film.

So, where do our votes stand?
