oh how i wish...

One of the things that i love the most about MsMccaffreys books, is the positive logic of the hero's and heroines. A job needs doing, and they do it. their solutions are practicle and logical. Governments buy into this logic and mankind is better served. and if the worse comes to the worst, well, a large dragon will set fire to their dumba$$es. Bad guys are bad, but inevitably shiped off to some far off prison, or intered on a deserted island in the middle of the chain.
It does get a bit frustrating, however. whenever i finish reading any part of her sequences, I have to come down from this fantastical plane, where logic and the greater good are served. It generally makes me even more angry with current world politics than i was before!

My sentiments exactly Princess!

Have you read the latest book (also about the Dragons of Pern) written by her son? This is already on my list of books to get!!

I hear you! It is very frustrating that our real world cannot function so logically. If even half of our political leaders used logic instead of 'what will it do for my reputation?' as a guide, we'd be 200% better off. It's a darned shame that our burocracies are also so illogical. The most logic you'll every see in today's world is in a child's schoolroom. Sad.

Re: oh how i wish...

Having now met the great lady, Princess, I can see why all her stories are so positive. She's a delightful character with a positive outlook and very winning way about her. The only meaningful question I managed to ask her (I was somewhat awestruck) was 'Why dragons? What made her think of a world with dragons as such an integral part of society?'

Anne looked at me with a mischievous smile and simply said. 'I've always been good with critters.' I guess that sort of summed it up.
