| Re: Which is your favorite trilogy of Discworld? Death and others, i.e. Mort, then Soul Music. I suppose Hogfather follows, but it doesn't complete my favourites list. Is it The Colour of Magic or The Light Fantastic where Rincewind and Twoflower go to Death's house? I'll have that as the first in the above trilogy. And my second favourite trilogy would be featuring the Watch: Guards! Guards! Men at Arms and then one of any number of others to make up the three. ![]() |

| Re: Which is your favorite trilogy of Discworld? Hmm, yes I'm going with the 'City Watch'. I have enjoyed those very much; Night Watch, Men at Arms and...THUD! especially. Although Mort is still one of my favourites. |

| It has to be the books with Death as the main character ... Mort, Reaper Man, Soul Music, Hogfather. I also like Thief of Time for role that Death Plays there. There is something endearing and true about a death who likes cats and adopts a daughter and has a horse called Binky. He's an inevitablility in life but people hate/fear him so much nevertheless. I could imagine that being quite an awful thing after an eternity. This is really hard because I really like Granny Weatherwax and her 'headology' too. ![]() |

| Re: Which is your favorite trilogy of Discworld? The Watch or Death, I can't really decide. Certainly, COM and LF are weak, but this improves, and NOBODY can fail to be impressed by Granny Weatherwax. I also have a sneaking admiration for Magrat, in WA and LL she faced opponents who should have obliterated her but, probably thanks to standing up to Granny, she destroyed the sisters and had the elf-queen at her mercy. Not bad for a wet hen. TBH, apart from Monstrous Regiment, there isn't a single discworld I haven't enjoyed. |

Maybe people just don't like the way he's written, or maybe his 'cowardice' just gets up people's nerves. I don't know... To me, he's okay. But I'd prefer the senior wizards. Especially when they're all arguing at cross-purposes. Its the height of hilarity... ![]()

And, while a large percentage of his characters are archetypes, Rincewind's universal reaction to anything makes him (not the situation) a little too predictable. If we're going for trilogies (and I think all the original series have outgrown their "tri") How about Susan? Soul Music, Hogfather and Thief of Time, and Susan is an archetype who is not all that shallow.
