Re: Book Hauls! @ Gollum & Fahim: I'm done with the Pratchett and it IS very good. I have read some of the stories from the Kipling collection in previous anthos. Man Who Would be King and Strange Ride of Morrowbie Jukes are awesome in most part, and I do like The Phantom Rickshaw and some of the other stuff. I hope to find more good stuff here. I have also read a good deal of Watchmen at a friend's place and it is AWESOME, albeit very depressing too. 1001 Nights is a huge (~900pgs) single book. I dunno how abridged that would be. I would in most likelihood not have gone for a multi-volume set of this.

Re: Book Hauls! Vivek ... have been contemplating Shantaram for some time. I've heard such diverse things about the book, am not sure if I want to read it, but I am curious as to what you think about it. The Arabian Nights in one Volume would be immense. Mine is in six volumes (picked them up in India so they are not going to win awards for quality) and the one in Silverfish, which is gorgeous, is in 16 volumes. Ravenus .. How are you going with the Kipling. Picked it up a few months ago and must admit that I did not know he had done so much fantasy and was very startled to see this collection. ![]()

Re: Book Hauls! Heh yeah I was surprised too at how large the book was, as big as the Clark Ashton book, and that guy was almost exclusively a fant writer. They seemed to write endlessly in the Victorian days, didn't they? I'll post ops once I am a few stories into the thick of it ![]()

Re: Book Hauls! The full Burton Nights set is either 16 or 17 volumes in length (I've seen both). The original that was offered through subscription only was, I believe, 17 volumes. It takes up at least the majority of a good-sized shelf, and the first three volumes (as I recall, no longer having my copy) make up nearly 1000 pages.... It's a magnificent work, though, and if I can ever lay my hands on another set.......
