| Re: Book Hauls! Thanks! It's part of a double book and much shorter than I remembered it to be, but definitely woth it. I can see how it could get stuck in my head in the first place because it's very well written and disturbing in just the right way. Mmm - enjoyable and re-readable. I'll look into the other story in the book and see if it's any good. |

| The Wicked Sword Maiden | Re: Book Hauls! Luck was with me for a little while today...Bought R.A.Salvatore's 'The Cleric Quintet' Collectores Edition. Usually priced around $AU43...I was very lucky as one page was turned over on a corner, only a small amount but enought to bring the price down to just $AU20. As I bought my son a book for Christmas as well, I got a $AU15 voucher!! |

| Flaming Poltergeist | Re: Book Hauls! Woot!!! I was just toddling back to my halls from campus and I walk through the local club/cafe/bar place and what do I see in there? A book sale! Yay! And ah, there are some gems in there! I was tempted to buy so many, but I had to take into consideration that I have to cart them all home on the train next week, so I had to limit myself (it sounds like the stall is there every week though...yay!) Anyway, so for a mere £6.25 (less than the average book bought new from a book shop!) I bought The Eye of the World by Robert Jordon, The Amityville Horror part II and Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos volume I by H.P Lovecraft and others. Woo! |

| Re: Book Hauls! So, bookcloseouts.com is having its dollar-for-dollar sale right now, if anyone is interested! Unfortunately, that means my very well-intentioned oath not to purchase any more books before the new year was ABSOLUTELY obliterated. As I bought eighteen books! But all for under $3.50 a book, which is a good deal, I think :-) Just don't know where to put them all when they come ... Deadhouse Gates, by Stephen Erickson Memories of Ice, by Stephen Erickson Manhunt: The 12-Day Search for Lincoln's Killer Fire and Hemlock, by Diana Wynne Jones Paragon Lost, by Dave Duncan English Society in the 18th Century Team of Rivals The Kitchen Boy Medalon Beneath A Silent Moon How Green Was My Valley An Ordinary Woman, by Cecelia Holland The Colour, by Rose Tremain Gardener to the King Jack Absolute The Blooding of Jack Absolute The Illuminator, by Brenda Rickman Vantrease Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens |

| Re: Book Hauls! I got Elantris by Brandon Sanderson after seeing it mentioned in a thread, and Julianne Lee's Knight Tenebrae. Since I've discovered Locusmag.com (thanks Lucien ), I've been using their archives to look at book summaries; now I have of list of books that might interest me to take to the book store. |

| Re: Book Hauls! The first three of the Banned and the Banished quintet, bought in concert with the new Katherine Kerr. I have waited so many years for that book. I thought she'd died or something. |

| Flaming Poltergeist | Re: Book Hauls! My mum has just had a book haul for me! Well, for my christmas presents! I usually hate knowing what I get for christmas (it's all about the surprise for me, I wouldn't care what's inside the present, I just like the excitement of it all ) but my mum never knows what books to buy for me (apart from Stephen King, and I have almost every book by him anyway!)Anyway, so I picked out: - Sorcery by Terry Pratchett - Um...damnit, there was another Terry...Oh! I remember. Small Gods - The first one of Robin Hobbs Assassin's Apprentice trilogy (didn't look at the title, I just picked it up!) - Dracula by Bram Stoker...watched the film last night and realised I've never read the book...decided it was time I did! |
