Chaosium is exceedingly addictive especially when you go in with a love for Lovecraft anyway. They sent e-mail about having added Arkham Tales to their catalogue so I went to have a look. I bought:
Arkham Tales
Necromicon: The Wandering Of Alhazred
Tales Out Of Innsmouth
The Innsmouth Cycle

They are being sent by surface mail so will take a couple of months I think to actually get here.

Re: Book Hauls!

Went to the City today, Sunday and one of the lcoal stores was having a sale: 40% discount off all books (incl. New Releases). Happily picked up:

System Of The World - Neal Stephenson (book 3 of the Baroque cycle).
The Dante Club - Matthew Pearl (author of the intriguing Poe Shadow)
Throne Of Jade - Naomi Novak (book 2 in the Temeraire series)

A pretty good triumvirate at almost half the RRP I think.

Re: Book Hauls!

Went to MPH and discovered they were giving a 25% discount and so I bought books. I'll have to wait on Perdido Street Station and Malazan since it would appear that books do not drink coffee and the secretary from the HR Dept fed them a whole pot. They didn't have those but they've been ordered and will arrive in about three weeks.

I did buy some books:
The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde
Tanglewreck - Jeanette Winterson
I, Coriander - Sally Gardner
Scar - China Mieville
Looking For Jake & Other Stories - China Mieville (am going to start this later tonight)

Gollum: Tell me what you think of Dante Club please.

Then went to Waterstones where they have a 3for2 offer on at the moment and bought

Re: Book Hauls!

Not me...but I just talked to my best friend on the phone and she just spent a queenly amount of money at the bookstore...don't know all the titles, but there was a good amount of both history (that's what she teaches) and science fiction in the haul.

Re: Book Hauls!

On the advice of Gollum and Rosemary, I picked up the Axis trilogy (Sara Douglass). I also found another of her books on the bargain table, Beyond the Hanging Wall. I looked in vain for the Jewelfire trilogy by Freda Warrington. Might have to hit e-bay for those.

Yep I've read Hanging Wall, it's not too bad actually. The original Axis trilogy is her best work for me. Let us know how you go.

Re: Book Hauls!

Just got my newest Book Club shipment:
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card,
Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1) by Paolini, Christopher, and
The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester.
These title came up some many times in the forums that I figured I couldn't miss.

Just picked up all the Harry Potter books. It's about time I understood what everyone is talking about.

Re: Book Hauls!

Maybe we could have books hauls by month in the same way we have monthly postings of what are you reading?
