Re: Book Hauls!

Just got a notification that last month's book order has finally been dispatched. They had trouble sourcing one of the books. So some time this week I'll pop along to the post office to collect:

Mean Mothers: Overcoming the Legacy of Hurt (Peg Streep)

They Call Me Naughty Lola: The London Review of Books Personal Ads - A Reader (David Rose)

Summer Knight: Book 4 of the Dresden Files (Jim Butcher)

Blood Books: Volume 1: Blood Price; Blood Trail (Tanya Huff)

I have read the first one, and liked it very much. I just keep getting the follow-up books, knowing I'll get to it someday . It'd the same with the Roadkill book by Thurman. I've read the first 3, and have the latest 2 waiting.

Re: Book Hauls!

(As noted before, I don't often have "hauls", usually more like snags....)

Picked up Tad Williams' Shadowrise, but will probably have to literally pick up the first two books and read them again to remember what was happening in the story!

I didn't know that was out yet. Have to go get it. Heard it's his best book so far.

I think it just was released on the 30th. Even without the good review, I would have got it. I loved everything he's done, with Ysabel being the only exception (I thought it was ok).

Re: Book Hauls!

Had a bit of haul these days. Found an old man with a bookshop, in the looses sense of the word, on the side of the road so I stopped by. Got really cheap:

Stanislaw Lem - 'Solaris
John Brunner - couple of books, I'm too lazy right now to find the original titles
Aldous Huxley - 'Point Counter Point'

Also, my roommate surprised me yesterday with an advanced birthday gift: Robert A. Heinlein - 'Starship troopers', a book he's been raging on about since the first year of highschool.

Re: Book Hauls!

The Rediscovery Of Man - Cordwainer Smith
Flowers For Algernon - Daniel Keyes
Earth Abides - George R. Stewart
The Sirens Of Titan - Kurt Vonnegut
Last And First Men - Olaf Strapledon
Stand On Zanzibar - Jon Brunner
The Fifth Head Of Cerberus - Gene Wolfe
The Demolished Man - Alfred Bester
The Book Of Skulls - Robert Silverberg

This was actually a few months ago but after complaining about how hard it was to find SF Masterworks books I logged onto eBay and found nine of them for an absolute bargin about 10 minutes down the road. I already had four of them so I've passed them onto a friend who I've got into reading SF and now I have over half of the collection .
