| Re: Book Hauls! Have just ordered Restless Nights by Dino Buzzati, a collection of the famed Italian writer's short stories. This is OOP and pretty hard to get hold of at a reasonable price, so I was shocked and elated when I saw it going for sale online for only £12. |

| Re: Book Hauls! "Altered Carbon" - Richard Morgan. Part of my quest to aquaint myself with more modern authors. "The Sword of the Lictor" - Gene Wolfe. Volume 3 of the book of the New Sun series. "Midnight Sun" - Ramsey Campbell. Part of my quest to find my kind of horror. "Something Wicked This Way Comes" - Ray Bradbury. Part of my quest to read the entire Fantasy Masterworks series. "When the Sleeper Wakes" - H. G. Wells. I just liked the sound of this one. |

| Re: Book Hauls! Have received a copy of Poe's The Journal of Julius Rodman which I ordered some time back. I've only had occasion to read this once, in a rather hurried fashion, so it didn't leave the best impression. However, with my current rereading of all the Poe I can, I thought I'd give it another shot... and found that I could get a rather nice copy for a very decent price (under $5.00); so, rather than try to get it through ILL at this point.... |

I read somewhere that Analog wouldn't publish his late-career stories because the then editor didn't like him. Shocking to have such a great history of books behind you and then find yourself frozen out.

It really is a shame that he was shunned like that just because the editor didn't like him. I think the editor needed a swift kick out the door!
