Severian of The Guild book i saw in library displays for new english language fiction. Does it collect Book of New Sun ?

Fantasticfiction, amazon dont say much if its what i think it is or just new stories in that series.

Well it is fun in the sense that it's I suppose you could say mentally stimulating but I mean good literature should make you think and challenge your current mindset. The books I like the most are generally those that both entertain or uplift you whilst stimulating the little grey cells. Those books in which you discover new insights either into the author's thinking/message and storyline each time you read them are often the most rewarding.

Pretty much all of Wolfe's books can be read on a more surface level as a story in its own right or enjoyed from a deeper perspective.

Trust me I'm a Gemini....

OK, the story behind Severian of The Guild because we have it here is that it represents an omnibus edition of all 4 books that make up the New Sun sequence (Shadow of The Torturer; Claw of The Conciliator; Sword of The Lictor and Citadel of The Autarch).

It is therefore a handy way to read the series in the 1 book. I have the 2-volume Fanatsy Masterwork edition. Of course beyond the New Sun there's several other Sun series of which I own all (surprise surprise... ). New Sun basically represents the standout of these although some of the others are also good not that I've gotten around to reading all of them yet *SIGH*..

Cheers...

Today picked up two of my 2009 list on the cheap....

The House Of Spirits - Isabel Allende *Debut novel for this magic realist.
House Of The Seven Gables - Nathaniel Hawthorne *Never read or owned a copy of this, closest has been an extract in the Hawthorne Reader.

Until I get a new income stream not much in the way of big hauls but when it happens watch out, 'bout 100 books for 2009 list. Morgan's Steel Remains rocks big time, never been a big Stross fan & Moon Called seems to be getting good reviews. Actually 16 books is a pretty big haul, well OK medium size then...

Enjoy those....

Re: Book Hauls!

I planned to celebrate my new job and first paycheck with a 10 new books haul but then i saw i will get most of the money next month since i worked extra time alot.

Im starting to feel like a real book addict, im feeling uneasy having to wait until next month...

Of course Gollum your huge hauls was inspirational, i almost start drooling when i see your hauls with SFF masterworks books and many others.

Well, as long as you don't have a heart attack when you see pics of my library and inventory to be posted later this year I'll be happy.

Cheers and good reading....

I'm trying to contain myself - so no more book buyings until most of these are read. Still it's hard to do - there are so many interesting things - but sadly time is limited.

Oh, I will - now doubt about this - although 3 out of 5 are completly new authors for me - so I can't be sure about them. (the last sentence doesn't make sense - sorry)

2 books from different sources. Isaac Asimov's Opus from bookmooch and Jack Vance's Emphyrio (part of the SFMasterworks set) from Bookhopper.co.uk Both totally free!
Yay!
