| Re: Book Hauls! I don't buy too many new books anymore but after I finished my laps at the mall this morning I rushed over to Freddies and picked up 326 pages of super-science fiction written by one of the best practitioners in the field: The Trouble With Aliens, short stories by Christopher Anvil, edited by Eric Flint. Finally, no more fumbling through old sf mags hunting for these gems. ![]() |

| Re: Book Hauls! i bought Running With The Demon by Terry Brooks. I've read and loved his Shannara and Landover series' and was rather pleased to find more Brooks books I haven't read lol. Also got Acorna's Search by Anne McCaffrey, cos I read the first 4 Acorna books and thought I may as well carry on, and The Fledgling Of Az Gabrielson by Jay Amory, just because I thought it looked good ![]() |

| Re: Book Hauls! And of course GOLLUM you have to tell me how you go with After The Quake ... it's quirky and I loved it. Firework-Maker's Daughter is pretty good too though my heart belongs to Pullman's Clockwork for some reason. |

Be prepared for a good few definitions of words that you already know, and you might expect the average JRRT reader would as well, though (chafed, fiddlesticks, uplands) - but I suppose it's difficult to strike the balance for all the potential readers of the book. | |
