Re: Book Hauls!

A "largish haul" he calls it! Mind you, after some of the epic buying you've declared in this thread over the past, I suppose that was quite moderate buying

And there's M.R James popping up again. Has he always been this popular or is it that thing of once you notice one red car, you see them everywhere....

Really enjoying the M.R James collection, though.

I will definitely give you my feeback once I get through them. Still waiting on the third book. I picked them up after hearing all the praise in the Historical Fiction forum. It was this or Cornwell's Saxon books... so I picked up this series.

There are a few titles there (in the Wordsworth series) I've not seen yet, but I may look them up.... Congratulations on the haul... you've got some very, very good reading ahead of you....
Who me? Never.....

Yes I was lucky to come across this gentleman who sells books al fresco style in town. He's got a greart array of classics esp. Wordsworth edns.

@Nesa: Yes room in the library is still OK but I've had to rearrange things a little.

@Hoopy: Yes that's just a small entree, wait until I get to the main course....

Cheers all...

Re: Book Hauls!

All right, a thread I was born for. I love book hunting, especially bargain book hunting. Last week on Halloween the local library had a book sale. I walked away with: The Surly Sullen Bell by Russell Kirk (short story collection); Gone South by Robert McCammon; Great Detective Stories edited anonymously; The Mammoth Book Of Roaring Twenties Whodunnits edited by Mike Ashley (near perfect condition trade paperback for a buck!). Today at Goodwill I scored Shadows 4 edited by Charles L. Grant (notable not just for a Robert F. Young story but also a John Shirley and William Gibson collaboration) and The Incredible Umbrella by Marvin Kaye.

Thanks. Yeah, I fared pretty well this time. Can't wait for next weekend for some more bargain hunting. Book collecting, like coffee, is what I live for.

Time and the Gods very interesting one of my newest book.

I can recommend The Hoard of the Gibblins and The Sword of Welleran as good stories to start with as someone who is also new to Lord Dunsany.
