Re: Book Hauls!

Yay! A package arrived for me today, containing Zoë's Tale by John Scalzi. That is the fifth book in the Old Man's War universe and the previous four have been wonderful, so I have very high expectations on this one!

Re: Book Hauls!

Just as I was leaving for my evening shift, I received my copy of H. P. Lovecraft: The Fiction. I must say that I'm impressed. Not only is this a massive tome, but it's quite attractive as well....

Re: Book Hauls!

Wow JD ... have been looking at the book online and it does look impressive indeed. Am going to try and see if there is any way to get it out here. Enjoy.

For my birthday I was given Mateki (The Magic Flute) illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano and a graphic novel called Flight (volume 1) by the folks at work.

Re: Book Hauls!

Apart from reposting how I got Marsh's "The beetle",I got some from my library
recently:

"The opening of the door" by Machen-only two tales o this book are gonna be read by me.

"The abyss and others" by Leonid Andreyev

"The story without a name" by Jules Barbey D'Aurevilly-it consists o several short books sewed together-one of them a Bjornston tale, but im just reading the "title" one-in fact,I already did.

"The spider" by Hans Heinz Ewers-only read "Mamaloi" and "Voodo" in their, the first being actualy an extension of the later.

"Three diabolic novels" also by D'Aurevilly.

"The green Face" by Meyrink

"The heart of Kings" also by Ewers

and oremost of all

"The sorceror's aprentice" ALSO by Ewes-god I waited a long time for that one.

Don't forget I've got some signed stuff for you also.

I've seen that Flight series at Minotaurs, there's about 4 out at the moment in the series. They look quite attractive.

I picked up a copy of Ray Bradbury's new 2 novellas - Now & Forever.

I'm also reading Neil's latest Graveyard Book. Fabulous stuff!

Enjoy the day....

Re: Book Hauls!

Just received in the mail a copy of The Sea Demons, by Victor Rousseau Emanuel (as H. M. Egbert). This one I've had bad luck tracking down for about 20 years: either I couldn't find it at all, or the copies I did find were far out of my price range. Finally got the thing, in a very nice hardbound copy, for a reasonable price....

This is one of those pieces that many think influenced -- albeit likely unconsciously -- the creation of HPL's Deep Ones in "The Shadow Over Innsmouth"....

Re: Book Hauls!

As I noted, I've been looking for this one for about 20 years; your note to me on it reminded me that I'd not looked it up in a few months, so I checked it out, and found one for an affordable price. Durn right I ordered fast -- I was gettin' old waitin' for this one to show up!
