Re: Book Hauls!

Not that I'm aware of, particularly. I simply mention such things for those interested in knowing whether or not the names the author writes under is a pseudonym or not, as sometimes it aids in tracking down things written in other fields, and so on.

Re: Book Hauls!

I got Eisenhorn, The Ultramarines Omnibus, The Blood King (sequel to Summoner, a great book), Dhampir, Thief of Lives, and Sister of the Dead. All of which, are good books. I am hoping to get the Horus Heresy Series but it is just so damn long and unavailable in American libraries that I don't want to spend another 60 dollars after buying those books I mentioned. Any books in particular that I would really NEED to get? Books that will blow my mind, not just good books.

Re: Book Hauls!

Just received in the mail:

Haggopian and Other Stories, by Brian Lumley (vol. 2 of his Best Mythos Tales)

and Tales of Terror, ed. by Boris Karloff

This last also has an introduction that, so I understand, remains even after all this time (it was first published in 1943) one of considerable perceptiveness and insight about the field....

Newton's Wake: A Space Opera - Ken MacLeod
Shadows Linger and The White Rose - Glen Cook (what luck, used copies of books 2 and 3!)

The Last Wish - Andrzej Sapkowski

Very impulsive buy. I knew it was a famed fantasy from different part of europe and not the usuall UK fantasy.

I mostly bought it cause i wanted something different and i thought how often do you get Polsh fantasy in english over here.

Plus it cost 71 kr instead the store prise of 129 kr cause 40% so employee dsicount helped alittle

Have you read this before, Gollum, or is it new to you? Interested to hear your opinion on it, either way.

Re: Book Hauls!

I am a sucker for good-looking books. I can't help it. I went into Waterstones with my friend and was attracted by this beauty: A hardback commemorative edition Necronomicon: The Best Weird Tales of H.P Lovecraft. Big, with black cover and a golden Cthulhu on the front. And some great illustrations throughout. I'm in love.

Oh, it is a lovely book indeed. I received a copy of it in the mail over the weekend, along with the new edition of Harlan Ellison's Watching. I'll be curious to see what you think of HPL now that you've got a fairly hefty concentration at your disposal....
