Love this one too. Cried and cried and cried. It's amazing. No words at all but it says everything and more.

Still my favourite is the first one of his I got which was The Red Tree. Makes perfect sense some days when everything is harum-scarum and tipsy-turvy.

The one I got most recently is The Lost Thing. In a way all of them are silent since they depend mostly on the illustrations and the words in the background of sheets of paper and such like.

Re: Book Hauls!

Oxfam came up trumps again, with Tom Holland's "Rubicon" for £2.99 - absolute bargain, and I've been eyeing it up in Waterstones for months. Tempted to sweep three James Barclay "chronicles of the Raven" along with it, but there's still most of the month to go.....

Re: Book Hauls!

From the library recently, I've got Terry Pratchett's Men at Arms, The Fifth Elephant, and Mort to read, and today I picked up Ursula Leguin's The Other Wind.

Have you started C. E. Murphy's The Queen's Bastard yet? My copy has a huge mistake. I was reading page 24 and then found out that the next page jumped to 377. Is your copy like that?

Received in the mail yesterday:

Brian Lumley: The Taint & Other Novellas (Best Mythos Tales, Vol. I)
and a new copy of James I's (or VI's, depending on how you look at it) Daemonologie (my other copy disappeared, apparently, somewhere in one of my moves....)
