If you enjoyed them, then you should definetly get Kushiel's Avatar. IMO it is the best one. I re-read that book more than the first 2. That will at least finish that trilogy. Then start on the next one whenever.

Yep, I finally tried Kushiel's Dart just recently. I'd always been scared off by the whole "erotic" element, but was really pleasantly surprised by how much *more* there was to the book than just that element. You'd never know how rich and interesting the story was from the way many reviews focus only on the anguisette thing.

I tend to take it pretty slow when reading big-fat-fantasy series, with plenty of other books in between, so I probably won't get around to actually reading Kushiel's Chosen for a while, but I definitely do plan on continuing with the rest of the books in the series.

Re: Book Hauls!

You've got three, presumably un-read, Pratchetts from the library, Tal, and you're reading a CDT first?

Re: Book Hauls!

Lol - I'm not sure how well I'll be able to get into the Ill-Made Mute, so I thought I'd start with it and see how it goes. If I don't like it, then I've got the Pratchetts to make up for it. I know I can't go wrong there.

What, like eating all the crusts off a sandwich first, you mean.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with TIMM, by the way....I gave up on it, I'm afraid, on the grounds of verbosity.

Thanks Tickle. I have added it to my To Be Read list.

I noticed that as well, that most reviews (at least on Amazon) focused purely on the erotic aspect of it. But there is a lot more to the story than that.

Re: Book Hauls!

Well I love The Ill-Made Mute by CDT, I adore her verbosity, her lavish, listing descriptions. Remind me never to give you any of the stuff I write, Pyan, it would drive you mad.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it Talysia, I recall been riveted from the start.

Re: Book Hauls!

Barnes and Noble had a special, buy two bargain books and get one free, so I did.

Bought Neal Stephenson's:

Quicksilver & The Confusion for $5.38 US & $4.48 US respectively\

and got The Accusers (Marcus Didius Falco Series #15) by Lindsey Davis free

Also in bargain books:

The Hunt Club by John Lesocroart
Dead Wrong by J. A. Jance
Demons Are Forever: Confessions of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom by Julie Kenner
At Risk by Patricia Cornwell
The Highwayman by R. A. Salvatore

Not a bargain book,

Carpe Diem: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom by Julie Kenner (the title of this book tickled my fancy so I have to try it.)

I know I've read it before and I loved it (But then I enjoyed all Pratchett's books with death as one of the main characters)

Re: Book Hauls!

L.E. Modesitt Jr's Cadman's Choice. This is the fifth book in the Corean Chronicles series, although this is the first I will have read. Found it for only 49p in hardback in a discount bookshop, so that was a bargain.

Kim Wilkin's Giants of the Frost. I've read Autumn Castle and enjoyed it, so I'm hoping that I'll like this one, too. The Norse myth aspect intrigues me as well.
