Oh dear, I had to go back to the bookshop as Deltora Quest 3 has already been read by one of the twins, so my eldest would have found it far too easy to read. In it's place I purchased 'Dragon Flight' by Anne McCaffrey. I do hope she enjoys McCaffrey's books as much as I do.

Re: Book Hauls!

Well, my roommate gave me a lovely old two-volume edition (complete with slipcase) of The Dialogues of Plato, which was quite unexpected and is much appreciated....

Re: Book Hauls!

Picked up the following 2nd hand and for quite cheap:

The set of 4 Hitch-hiker (Douglas Adams) books in a card-board slip-case. The case is a little worn but the books are in decent condition. Skimmed through it a bit and it reads like Pratchett lite in a futuristic setup.

Black House (Paul Theroux). Supposed to be a horror book, lessee.

Of Love and Other Demons (GG Marquez). Marquez can be really good sometimes...and at least this book is short so I don't have too much to lose

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (Roald Dahl). Am stretching my luck here but I recall liking the Gene Wilder movie a lot so...

Let us know what you think of D. Adams.

By the way its Pratchett that reads like Hitchhiker in fantasy form

Re: Book Hauls!

This is my *first* book haul since last November, which is probably a record for me. I've been making an effort to not buy too many books until I get the TBR pile down a bit and/or have some bills paid off, but the book-shopping withdrawal was getting intense, so...

Kushiel's Chosen - Jaqueline Carey
The Born Queen - Greg Keyes
Myth-Chief - Robert Asprin
Twilight - Stephanie Meyer (I don't usually care for vampire stories, but this came highly recommended by a friend, so I had to at least give it a shot.)

Then I went a bit crazy and placed pre-orders for the Subterranean Press editions of both Gardens of the Moon (got a whopping $46 off @ Amazon) and The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox (only the regular edition, not the leather-bound, at least).

Re: Book Hauls!

I assume you have read Kushiel's Dart Jen? I have read Kushiel's Dart and Kushiel's Chosen, just haven't gotten around to getting the rest of the books (yet) But quite enjoyed them.
