Re: Book Hauls!

Same with my TBR pile, Connavar. Especially since I've been reading from the library, lately. I was able to control myself remarkably today, buying only one book each from two used bookstores. (Plus checking out two more from the library.)

Lord of Light - Roger Zelazny
Dune - Frank Herbert

Re: Book Hauls!

After having not bought any books for quite a while, I went and splurged a bit on myself after finding the new job. So I have now ordered:

(replacements):

A Winter Wish, by H. P. Lovecraft
The Lays of Beleriand, The Shaping of Middle-Earth, and The Lost Road (hardbound edition) by J. R. R. Tolkien
The Monster and the Critics and Other Essays (tpb), by JRRT

(new):

The Passing of a God and Other Stories (vol. I of the Complete Short Fiction of Henry S. Whitehead)
Dreads and Drolls (essays), by Arthur Machen

Re: Book Hauls!

Finally found the penguin edition of Tiger Tiger by Alfred Bester. Would have settled for the Pan version, and I did see an ancient (circa 1960) copy of the US version, The Stars, My Destination, but I've been holding out for this version. My search is over. Should I read it now or put it at the bottom of my TBR pile?

Amazing what you can find among the Jeffrey Archers and the Catherine Cooksons, isn't it, Ada!
I found a copy of Xiccarph, by Clark Ashton Smith, of all things, in last years Christmas Bazaar at my local school....

LOL!!

Don't forget the Danielle Steele's!

I found a copy of Umberto Eco's The Island of the Day Before in the same sale a few months back... it does come in handy that my would-be-father-in-law puts the books out every Friday for the sale on Saturday - I get a sneak preview!!!

Re: Book Hauls!

If anyone wants Glen Cook's The Black Company let me know.

I dont like the book and dont want to have it in my collection. I can send to whoever wants the book instead it gathers dust. It just annoys me to have a book i dont wanna have :P

Re: Book Hauls!

HMMM...I happen to like Glenn Cook's Balck Company and his other series but I of course have copies already.

Any particular reason you don't like Black Company Conn?

Re: Book Hauls!

It was just not good enough. Some interesting characters but the rest was meh as best.

It might have opened way for the likes of Erikson's Malazan as i hear people say but i thought it was a poor man version of that type of story.

Fahim: Pm me your info and i will send the book in 7-10 days.

Re: Book Hauls!

Well it does get better as the series progresses and Erikson indeed holds Cook in very hight esteem.
