Re: Book Hauls!

Well, thanks to the delight that has been this weekend at FantasyCon, I have a large haul to report! (FantasyCon was awesome by the way!)

Bought:
Soul Music - Terry Pratchett
The Machineries of Joy - Ray Bradbury
Dandelion Wine - Ray Bradbury
The Lurking Fear - H.P Lovecraft
Dagon - H.P Lovecraft
Lord Valentine's Castle - Robert Silverberg (A recommendation by Pyan and in return I made him buy a Stephen King book )
And the best one: A first edition NEL paperack version of The Shining - Stephen King.

And how much did I pay for all of these lovely books? £2.33!!

Freebies:
Full Moon Rising - Keri Arthur (in the welcome bag)
Coldheart Canyon - Clive Barker
And a uncorrected bound proof of The Twilight Herald - Tom Lloyd. These were both on my chair at the banquet earlier today...everyone was given two free books.
A signed limited copy of Impossible Stories - Zoran Zivkovic, which was picked from a selection of books which were offered to all those that were FantasyCon newbs

Woo hoo!!

Will be interesting to see what you think of them. I have planned to get more of his books but dont know which of his lesser known ones are better than others.

Those stories i didnt know even existed except Android.

I only read a few of his works, but I loved Now Wait For Last Year. I'm going to read Our Friends From Frolix 8 next. There's plenty to choose from, as he was quite prolific, and I doubt (from what I hear) you'll find a bad PKD book.

Haven't read the book, but I saw the movie.
Minority Report (the movie) was interesting too. Did you see A Scanner Darkly? That was a cool adaptation. I quite liked it.

Re: Book Hauls!

Planet of Adventure (Omnibus) - Jack Vance
The Mammoth Book of Future Cops edited by Maxim Jakubowski and M. Christian, bought it mostly caust it contains A Scanner Darkly by PKD
The Man with The Getaway Face - Richard Stark
Die Trying - Lee Child
Sacred - Dennis Lehane
Knights of Dark Renown - David Gemmell

Planet of Adventure
i didnt even know that series existed even the minute before i saw it on the shelf. Bought it cause i saw the blurb started with :Stranded on the distant planet Tschai, young Adam Reith..., that plus Jack Vance's name was enough for My last Jack Vance story was Emphiriyo which i loved from the start to the finish. I thought it would be great to read another mostly SF like JV story again.
