Re: Book Hauls!

Meowrr GOLLUM ... have not heard of Paul Park but am very fond of books for children and young adults. The titles sound intriguing so I'll go and have a look over the weekend and see what they have here.

*Have just looked in Amazon and yes they have those Paul Park books here. I'd looked at them before and liked the muted, sombre covers but am always wary of books that say they are like the writing of another or a combination of several other well known writers. I'll go have a look again now.*

Alisdair Gray I've always liked and Lanark was the first book of his I ever read back in Law School.

JD ... why do you keep doing this? We don't already have enough reasons to turn into lifelong break-and-enter artistes

Re: Book Hauls!

Thanks for the input Nesa. I'll be reading the Paul Park books next month before departing to Japan.

I'm getting some other Alasdair Gray books in the post soon, can't remember which ones at the moment...

Night..

Could they be any of these?
The Face In The Abyss - A. Merritt
Deathbird Stories - Harlan Ellison

I say it because I would love to take a look at 'em

Re: Book Hauls!

Spot on Ravenus. Those are the two I'd love to take a look at. I've been reading Merritt's stories that are available online and am hooked.

As for Ellison ... Angry Candy sucked me in a long time ago.

Addy ... which five LeGuin's are they?

Have fun with The Dark Materials. They are a good read.

It's the Hainish series. The five novels are:
Rocannon's World, Planet of Exile, City of Illusions, The Left Hand of Darkness and The Word for World is Forest.

I wasn't supposed to buy anything now, as I had already placed a large order last week, but I found The Dark Materials for $4, and the other book for $10, so I had to get them. I'm a cheap bastard.

Yes, so am I. I specially love big cheap second hand omnibus editions. And I'm known to spend large amounts of money in order to save a couple of bucks.

Re: Book Hauls!

On the subject of Pullmans trilogy AND saving money, I recently ordered the trilogy in paperback from the sf&f bookclub for the total of £0.00. Not sure whether it's a mistake or not, but they honoured the 'sale'... =D

Re: Book Hauls!

Goodness Dylan ... that's a steal to beat all steals, especially if the books are in mint condition.

Addy ... Earthsea was my introduction to LeGuin and I still love those books. There's a fourth book called Tehanu, which she wrote many, many years after she finished with the original trilogy.
