I love PKD! My next project is to extend a cabinet for PKD works!

Start sometime this month for my search for early prints.

Re: Book Hauls!

I've got first paperback editions (don't know if they even went hardback back then) of Ubik and Valis, which I'm inordinately proud of. 2 of my fave PKD novels, too!

I had to go into the personal database of my collection -

I have a first print of Ubik in HC (1969) - I bought that in January.

I have a limited editon of Valis (1987), part of a boxed set, signed by PKD. I think that's the first time it was put into HC - the first editon I think in softcover is 1981 (which I don't have) - is yours earlier?

Yep, I've got that 1981 edition. Autographed copies are a little out of my reach though!

Re: Book Hauls!

My library system occasionally weeds its collection and sells the books it doesn't want anymore. Yesterday, I happened to check the for-sale shelves and came up with four sf/fantasy novels that looked interesting:
  • Rivers of Time by L. Sprague De Camp (paperback)
  • The Seeds of Time by John Wyndham (a British edition of a short story collection printed in 1979 but first published in 1956
  • Children of the Maker by Lucy Cullyford Babbitt (a young adult fantasy, first edition hardcover)
  • End of Exile by Ben Bova (the third volume of a trilogy, but a first edition hardcover from 1975)
Paid a dollar for the lot.

Re: Book Hauls!

I thought I did very well with my purchases -

In one 2nd hand bookshop I bought David Edding's Books Two and Three of The Elenium. Book One I have placed on order. They were AU$9 each but I managed to bargain down to $6.

In another 2nd hand bookshop I finally found Janny Wurts' - The Circle of Fire Trilogy - well Books Two and Three - Storm Warden was missing, so that is on order as well. Not so fortunate with the price this time - she drove a hard bargain - finally got them for $8 each.
