Chris Carter might even set the films in those seasons, it is a possiblity, and if he knows thats what we want then who says he wont give it to us, but we'll see. The idea was always to make a film franchise, and not just one more film, but that was back in the day when The X-Files was
the thing to watch, back in the golden days maybe? I dunno, although i loved season 6 (and 5) and a lot of episodes from the earlier seasons, season 7 and 9 had some great moments and episodes too. Yes, the series became caught up in its own mytharc, yes it lost a little of its spark when DD up and left, but it still had everything i loved about it (except for the whole existence season 8, which i won't even go into it, because i may get violent).
A lot of the fans did stop watching (sadly) when DD left or at one time or another after season 6/5, but those fans won't be the people they are making the movie for, they'll be making it for the people who stuck with them and still gave a damn

so maybe its a kind of reward is how i see it sometimes
That little Gillian Anderson interview gave me a little hope that the movie franchise will continue on, and not be left at one film
