Re: Who should replace Billie Piper? But if they tried to replace the character of Rose, who everyone has been identifying with since the beginning - especially the people haven't watched Dr. Who before, and let's be fair, he's just a sidekick - it would be difficult to create another protaganist as sympathetic.

Re: Who should replace Billie Piper? Just thought I might post this news release from the BBC to confirm she is indeed leaving :- Billie Piper has quit her role as "Doctor Who" sidekick Rose Tyler just after the second season of the series started reports the BBC. The 23-year-old star told producers she did not want to become typecast as they begged her to stay for a third series of the hit show. BBC chiefs have now launched a secret bid to find her replacement. The choice mirrors Christopher Eccleston's decision to quit his role as the Doctor before the first series even went out (Eccleston played the title role for the 12-episode first season run). Piper did stay on to film the second season with new Time Lord David Tennant and a Christmas special. A source says: "The BBC are auditioning other girls to take over. They want to have the next actress all lined up when they formally announce Billie's departure. They are quite miffed about her decision. The casting people have been conducting secret auditions with a small number of actresses and keeping it very, very quiet. They are after a relative newcomer so this is the role which puts her in the public eye". Meanwhile, the BBC has revealed the new look for the Doctor's old foe 'The Cybermen' who are the key bad guys for the second season. My two penneth worth is I think that David Tennant is in fact a better Doctor than Mr Eccleston and Billie won't be too much of a loss - perhaps they'll get someone who can act to replace her.

Re: Who should replace Billie Piper? I really like the current cast...Billie Piper (yummy) as Rose, and Eccleston as the Doctor. I grew up with the Tom Baker incarnation, but I like Eccleston's version a lot.

Re: Who should replace Billie Piper? What I can seem to gather info wise is that the final episode of the second season is a cliffhanger and you dont know if she will survive??? My guess is that she will stay on at least part way into series three. She has earned alot of credit within the role and the chemistry between her and Tennant has been noted as electrifying so I reckon we will see her in most if not all series Three. As for replacement, I think we should go for a reltive unknown person, but it is mainly the writing that brings the characters to life so I have no worries about who will replace her. Mr. Davies isn't going to allow Dr. Who regenrate into what the show once was. This is his baby and he wants to watch it grow.

Actually, I think Isla Fisher from The Wedding Crashers would be great, because she has this sexy innocence about her. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0279545/ or Gigli Edgely (Chiana) http://www.gigiedgley.com/ Because she can so kick butt, and the good doctor needs a powerful female to keep him in check. PS: I hate the new Dr. Who Doctor. GRRR. He is too scrawny and scarecrow-greasy looking. Reminds me of the kind of guy you would see at a club that keeps trying to buy you drinks. What the heck were they thinking anyways? | |
