Re: Anyone here going to WorldCon 2005? Sorry to hear your not there, Cheryl - I spoke to Kevin earlier and he said you couldn't make it. However, learning a lot about what I'll need for LA next year. ![]()

Re: Anyone here going to WorldCon 2005? Well, I made it here after all, and I am glad that I did. Dreamhaven books is selling my books in the dealers room and I went in this morning and signed a bunch for them. Lots of stuff going on, some great readings and some interesting panels. (too bad I am not on one of them!! ) I like the small group discussions with the authors as well. I saw people signing up for some of them. I was glad to see my friend James Barclay getting a good deal of attention for that. He deserves it.The con is spread out all over the place, and since I am not staying at one of the close by hotels, I miss out on the evening activities. I wanted to go to Glenda Larke's reading tonight, but it was too late. By the way, it doesn't get dark in Glasgow now until around 10:00 pm, and it is freezing here and very wet. But they say that tomorrow the sun will be shining. I wish I could have been more of a part of this, but I suppose there just isn't room for everyone who wants to participate. Maybe next year. In any case, I am very happy to be here.

Re: Anyone here going to WorldCon 2005? Well, for those still to arrive, we have the chronicles table in Hall 2, with Winters_Sorrow and myself on there, and then of course there is Mark Robson in the Exhibitor's Hall with his rapidly depleting stock of books. ![]() Feel free to visit... @ Cheryl - noticed you were on a panel for discussing website use online - I appreciate you couldn't make it this time, but I'm going to contact the LA con team and see if any of my own skills and interest on the internet marketing side may be of interesting in the 2006 programme. Very much hoping to set up there as well, but this time, with a better planned presence. ![]()

Re: Anyone here going to WorldCon 2005? It must be mind-boggling to watch Mark use his super powers on such a large crowd of people. Knowing what he can do in an ordinary bookstore, he must be generating sales of epic proportions. I imagine vast armies staggering from the Exhibitors Hall under towering piles of Mark Robson books, while something like Carmina Burana plays in the background.

Re: Anyone here going to WorldCon 2005? Brian, the person you need to talk to is Chaz Baden. He's in charge of LA's web site and he's looking for people to help out with things like moderating an LJ site. Personally I think a proper BBS like yours is way better than an LJ for disseminating information. He may be pleased to hear from you. Chaz is in charge of Events photography. That means he'll be coordinating the post-Hugo photo shoot in the Forth tomorrow night. Or you can find him looking after the Fan Gallery in Monday. He's very well known, so ask around. Captain Standlee will be happy to give you a reference.

Re: Anyone here going to WorldCon 2005? I appreciate the debt problem, Kyektulu. I have one of those now thanks to all the work I've been doing on the convention. But just out of interest, what do you think would be a reasonable price for such an event? And is it the absolute level of price or the value for money that is at issue; that is, would you be happy paying half as much for a convention that was less than half the size and length?
