Re: Gemmell Movie? I'd love to see a film made of The King Behind The Gate. I think it would be the best choice of book to film. Although, The Damned would be a good idea also. I haven't read it in a couple of years so I forget some of the charcters but here is my choices. Mads Mikkelson as Decado Christian Bale as Ananais Mark Dacascos as Tenaka Khan Judi Dench as the old woman, I forget her name. Although this would have problems as she marries Ananais in ther book, and I just can't picture Dench getting it on with Bale. Off the top of my head i'd put your man who played Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat as Asta Khan.

Re: Gemmell Movie? I am reading Legend right now actually and i think the old Druss is suppose to be alittle round in the waist area so i think the guy from 12th warrior has to look both strong and that age has made him more round if they ever made the movie.

Re: Gemmell Movie? hmm, yes i do like the guy from 13th warrior as druss. however, having only JUST got into the books, and only having read legend yet (i bought more books today), in my mind druss is very similar to Gerard Butler in 300. only problem is, he couldnt be druss because the stories are so similar in their barest forms that it would just be wierd to have him as the lead in two such films. i still think hed be good though for druss at some point in his life. i mean, hes even scottish as well!

Re: Gemmell Movie? It could possibly work and to be honest I was thinking that they might do well if they shot the two Parmenion novels in the same format. Other than that I think that perhaps the only way to persuade people to make a film would be for the fans to pressure the studio's however it would be a case of finding a director with a love of the novels in order to make the whole thing work. Plus one that would be happy to let the Estate keep the rights to the worlds. Other than that I may well have to see about whats possible and take the helm and see if I can persuade some studio to give me a few million. lol

Re: Gemmell Movie? Any gemmell book would make a great movie if the director was decent. His characters are classic stuff that every script writer dream of. My dream DG movie would be Jon Shannow triology directed by Clint Eastwood and Christian Bale as Shannow. Eastwood should know how to direct Shannow since he was based on The Preacher in Pale Rider and is very similer to any other Eastwood western hero in those days.

Re: Gemmell Movie? The Shannow sequence always reminds me of that greatest of western films, Unforgiven, so i think Eastwood probably would be best, but not to sure about Bale. I thought maybe Hugh Jackman, if he can prove he is actually a good actor, instead of playing out and out action roles like Wolverine or Van Helsing
