| Re: The Dark is rising I never saw these books as a young kid and when I did try and go back and read them as an adult, I couldn't get into the stories. I couldn't tell you why, I just wasn't interested in the characters I guess. |

![]() I've heard of susan Cooper and this series but I've never read them. They sound like they may be a good read, another to add to the "to read" list *sighs* | |

| Re: The Dark is rising "Oracle", I like that Gollum! But I think not... ![]() These books are very short and easy. It's a good break from all those heavy reads us 'adults' are into. I suggest them! But I'm also a kid fantasy fan too! |

| Re: The Dark is rising Amber, it takes a variety of different people to make the world go 'round... and the same can be applied to this forum... and concerning books. I was actually recommended to read these books by a book seller who I was talking to about Robin McKinley and J K Rowling... Besides, there might be something to this series considering that 2 of the 5 books are Newbery Awarders. There's no need to worry when some one enjoys a children's book, it just means we understand the simple things in life. |

| Goblin Princess | Re: The Dark is rising Yes, the age factor is what I was reacting to. I don't read slash myself. Somehow, I prefer my favorite characters' ... um, relationships ... to remain pretty much as their creators originally intended. Particularly, of course, when those characters are eleven years old. |
