Hey Sasha, welcome to the Chrons

Which bit of Canada are you from?

I'm from England.

Re: Hello from Canada

Bonjour.

Bienvenu entre nous…

Ah, not that bit, eh?

I am here to warn you that this 'place' is not merely time consuming, but time devouring; if you had previously been intending to socialise (other than on here, of course), have hobbies, family, vacuum the carpets… well, all such aspirations (bilingual pun intended) can be definitively shelved.

It's not even by choosing a less populated time zone that you can escape this, and the addiction that follows close on its heels; many of the residents here show no signs of ever sleeping. What, constant wakefulness would drive us mad? And who, prithee, could detect the difference?

Nevertheless, welcome in. If sanity is not generalised, it is not outright rejected; still, it's generally considered wise to leave it outside (after the failure of numerous 'please leave your sanity here and collect it on leaving' boxes, there are now some hooks outside the entrance where you can attach its lead.

So, what's going on in 'reality'? Oh, and what reading/viewing/playing material particularly appeals to you? Do you have a favourite book/series/film/genre/author/director/rpg/composer/character/style? It helps us zero in on future suggestions.

And if by any chance you happen to write in your own right, have you investigated the "writing challenges" in "aspiring writers? There's a seventy-five word exercise drawing to a close now, and you could join in the voting – well, how hard can it be reading a few seventy-five word pieces and commenting (don't believe me, by the way. There are quite a lot of them, and choosing between very different interpretations of a theme is very hard indeed)? And even if you don't write, everyone appreciates comments. (This region, unlike the "critiques" one, is on the Thumper's mother principal; "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all", which explains the appreciation.

See you around.

Re: Hello from Canada

Aye. What Chrispy and the Mountain Man said. Sums (divides?) things up nicely.

All that's left is a welcome, Sasha, and a wish that many happy hours here be yours.

Welcome!! From the Auld country. I actually thought we were a bit harmless and mostly mad, but what the heck... this is the place for writers, no doubt about that - enjoy!
