Game of thrones brings £43 million quid to NI economy

Just noticed this in the Belfast Telegraph today - Game of thrones first 2 series have been filmed in various locations in Northern Ireland (I had good fun watching the first series and identifying the odd place) and it cost an investment of £6.5 million to bring it here.

The estimation based on service costs, accomodation, set building etc is that it's brought in £43 million in revenue so far, plus the hope that it's showing little NI off to the world.

Nice to see a bit of SFF paying off into one of the poorest parts of the Uk, no?

PS. sadly still to meet any of the actors, shall have to up my searching out of famous people...

That's if the viewers realise where it's filmed.

I'd imagine that a lot of people still don't realise Braveheart was filmed in Ireland. Ditto for many scenes in Saving Private Ryan.

Unforgiven, that grittiest and most honest of Westerns (Eastwood's last western)was filmed entirely in Alberta, Canada, not in Utah (or wherever the setting was).

Hehe of course Canada is huge and more empty open places than US does have compared to late 1800s.
