Question Dilemma

I have a large quantity of fantasy books which I need to either sell or donate. Does anyone know how best to do this? I would really like them to go to a good home.

Re: Dilemma

Can't help you beyond the obvious, ie selling on ebay or giving them to a charity shop. I know that the local National Trust house near us has a room which takes second-hand books, and volunteers run one alongside the cathedral in Winchester. Perhaps you could google second-hand books and see what comes up.

In case you were thinking about it, though, I should make it clear we can't allow selling here on the Chrons, nor any preludes to selling such as listing the books.

I hope you manage to find good homes for them somewhere, though.

Re: Dilemma

Thanks for the response. Of course, I did not mean to imply I wanted to sell them on here.

In my home town the library has twice yearly discarded book sales and they are willing to take donations from the public. The books go to a good home and the money goes to the library. Two birds with one stone, so-to-speak.

The books that they don't manage to sell either go to a local second hand book shop (bought in bulk by weight) or to scrap paper merchants, again sold by weight. Either way the money goes to local library funds.

Re: Dilemma

Hospitals and hospices also sometimes take books. Long term patients need something to occupy them.

Retirement homes as well, for the same reason.

Re: Dilemma

Brainstorming here.

No idea if they'd be interested, perhaps the science fiction foundation would want them? (http://www.sf-foundation.org/)
(And would sell the ones they don't want.)

Ask the British Fantasy Society - if they have a member near where you live maybe they'd like to collect and sell them in aid of BFS at next Fantasycon.

Re: Dilemma

I've donated to junior high and high school libraries before.
